It could be jigged but it needs a whole new rear panel welding in and the boot floor pulling straight plus a boot and bumper and bodywork to the quarter panels and having it all sprayed. Would cost about a grand to have done properly and its not worth that (well it is but its not sensible when i could get another shell for that, sell the bits off it and swap shinys to make money back)

I can't really see why you would need to be reversing at that speed unless you was messing about? None the less, it was a good looking car!

The only time I reverse at 15mph is when I'm at work, one customer of mine lives down a long cul-de-sac with nowhere to turn my van round, so I reverse all the way down it.
Bad luck though mate, gutted to see another epic project fall.

sorry to hear this feel for ya and i never got to see it cause i ain't been at ace for like ever.
Don't worry about what I'm doing, I want you to worry about what you're doing
29-10-2012, 10:52 AM
bad luck! D: Im always worried about doing this. Outisde out house someone had parked with the handbrake off and their car had rolled back into another D:

General rule of thumb is that if you can hear the gearbox whine in reverse then you're going too quick.
However it's also rule of thumb that you slow down if it's pissing it down with rain. Everyone makes mistakes! Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Gutted for you mate, must be so upsetting
But... as said, 15mph in reverse? Seems a little excessive for parking. Awful lot of damage too for a 15mph collision. I had a van go into the front of me at 20 with less damage than this. Different crumple zones etc i know but you get my drift... Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club 2000 Moonstone 1.8 Meridian - Sold 2000 China 3dr XS - Dead 1998 Diablo 3dr XSI

I think we've missed the point here.........how did Chris know it was 15mph? Guess he was too busy looking at the speedo lol!! I have no idea how quick I go in reverse, might have to look later!
29-10-2012, 11:59 AM
Its not hard to have a pretty good guess
I doubt he was staring at his speedo

Are you sure you did this by JUST reversing into a bollard? Thinking about it, I had someone drive into the back on my 1.8 at 20mph and it did no where near as much damage as that!!

The thing with being rear ended (giggidy) by another car is that the impact is spread across the whole width of the car, whereas a bollard is kinda small by comparison, so all the damage is in a condensed area, therefore looks worse than being hit by another car. If you know what i mean.
