Clutch tools
#1
Tried fitting a new clutch kit earlier, using a lasor alignment tool kit which I'd borrowed. Nothing in the kit would fit it though so I havnt been able to do it.

Can anyone recommend a tool/kit that you know will fit, they all look very similar apart from the blue draper ones (looking on eBay).

Cheers

just align it up by eye, if not why not cut the shalft out of an old gearbox?

I might try and use a bar and tape yeah, would rather not do it by eye though that'd be a bit fiddly.

I don't have a gearbox to spare, wouldn't the gearbox shaft only go into the friction plate though? I thought you needed the thinner end of the bar to locate in the engine and then a slightly wider bit which located the friction plate in line with engine?

Is the engine in the car? I did mine by eye and it worked fine but the engine was on the floor.

Oh I thought it had to be pretty accurate? Engines not in the car no so it is easier. I may try it by eye then, I can just see it resulting in a lot of faffing around with the gearbox!

I do mine by eye. and when you fit the box the shalft goes all the way into the centre of the fly. so you could use and old shalft

I got a Valeo kit from Chris on here but he didn't have an alignment tool. I'll use a socket/do it by eye,how hard can it be?!
