Clutch tools - Ben - 30-11-2012 Tried fitting a new clutch kit earlier, using a lasor alignment tool kit which I'd borrowed. Nothing in the kit would fit it though so I havnt been able to do it. Can anyone recommend a tool/kit that you know will fit, they all look very similar apart from the blue draper ones (looking on eBay). Cheers RE: Clutch tools - Tom - 30-11-2012 Bit of bar with some tape on it lol RE: Clutch tools - Daniel306 - 30-11-2012 just align it up by eye, if not why not cut the shalft out of an old gearbox? RE: Clutch tools - Ben - 30-11-2012 I might try and use a bar and tape yeah, would rather not do it by eye though that'd be a bit fiddly. I don't have a gearbox to spare, wouldn't the gearbox shaft only go into the friction plate though? I thought you needed the thinner end of the bar to locate in the engine and then a slightly wider bit which located the friction plate in line with engine? RE: Clutch tools - Tom - 30-11-2012 Aslong as its pretty much there it'll be fine :p RE: Clutch tools - Ricky - 30-11-2012 Is the engine in the car? I did mine by eye and it worked fine but the engine was on the floor. RE: Clutch tools - Ben - 30-11-2012 Oh I thought it had to be pretty accurate? Engines not in the car no so it is easier. I may try it by eye then, I can just see it resulting in a lot of faffing around with the gearbox! RE: Clutch tools - Daniel306 - 30-11-2012 I do mine by eye. and when you fit the box the shalft goes all the way into the centre of the fly. so you could use and old shalft RE: Clutch tools - londondan86 - 30-11-2012 (30-11-2012, 09:26 PM)Tom Wrote: Bit of bar with some tape on it lol Exactly how I did mine!!! RE: Clutch tools - cwspellowe - 01-12-2012 My Valeo clutch came with a blue plastic alignment tool in it. What clutch you fitting? RE: Clutch tools - Ben - 02-12-2012 I got a Valeo kit from Chris on here but he didn't have an alignment tool. I'll use a socket/do it by eye,how hard can it be?!
