I'm back....GTIDI inside
#1
I'm back in the 306 game once again, after saying never again. I'm sure you all understand.

So the car, it's a GTI-6 converted to an XUD from a 406 which is good as I get the '6 spec but an Eco engine. When I got the car it ran mechanically sound but was an unfinished project so have done lots if niggly bits to get it to a decent enough standard.
The spec:

Obviously GTI chassis so 283 brakes ect ect.....
XUD engine with 9mm Bosch (off my old 205) and k14 soon to be FMIC
Lowered
Deep dish wheel
Wind deflectors
A few other bits and bobs so will update when I remember

Some if you may recognise the car but here's a few pics

Plans are a general tidy up, fit the FMIC kit I bought and maybe fit the GT20 that's sat in the garage. After destroy various turbos and engines I really want to be sensible this time round Sad yawn.
Since I've owned it I've replaced the aux belt, handbrake cables, fixed the fans and hot wired the high speed fan to come on with the AC button, fixed the speedo and re-tuned the pump as it was set up for the K04 powered 205 but slightly de-tuned so it had chronic coal.

I've got an intercooler kit, any ideas for the best route to take it as it has a GTI rad with a built in expansion tank like the hdi's.

I think there is a bit of room on passenger side of the rad to go thru. Think 2" pipe fits thru it ok. Pretty sure the rad is the same as ph1s Dturbos

Thanks Frosty, I bought a 2" kit, it's what I've always used.
When I had the sedan I just put the pipes over the rad which looked identical to this one, not ideal as rad was leaning back. I could always chop into the slam panel?
It's running no cooler at the moment and even at stock boost levels I can really feel the heat soak :/ need to get this on ASAP

Nialls cut into his slam panel to go down the front of the rad. Quite a good route TBF.

It is a good route but very tight. Also my rad is now moved back 10mm at the top lol

That's a forge cooler, had it on 3 cars, another before my ownership but I believe it came off a Derv Doctor FMIC kit from years back.

Niall, how much did you cut out the panel?
