As some of you might remember I had a phase 1 black 306 DT running a 9mm bosch, fmic, straight through to cherry bomb, T25 and bigger brakes.
I got rid of it for the 205 but have lost the love and have landed myself with another black ph1 306!
I picked it up with Zak the other day (big thanks buddy) and have just had a look at it today.
(My ref, ignore the below)
Displacement 1.9 L (1,905 cc)
Bore 83 mm
Stroke 88 mm
CID: 116.2 inch^3 | 1904.5 mm
VE: 83%
http://www.centralturbos.com/pop-werks5a.htm
CFM = (1/2 CID x Max RPM) / 1728
(58.1 x 5000) / 1728 = CFM 168.1
CFM 168.1 x VE .83 = "Naturally Aspirated Air Flow" = 139.5
N/A AF * Density Ratio = Turbocharged Volumes of Air
139.5 * 1.35 = 188.3
174.4 / 14.5 PSI = 13 lb/m
Quote:Basically it's started with:
- DHY Lucas & T2 with a massive hole in the block
- Lowered on cut springs (90mm?)
- Lowered torsion bar with uprated shocks
- New(ish) brakes all round
- Pressed plates
Quote:Parts in stock that can be fitted include:
- GT2052V
- GT2052S
- TD05-20G
- GT2256V (new)
- TD04L-13T (needs rebuild)
- FMIC kit
- Water meth kit
- AutoMeter EGT & 35 PSI boost gauge
- Oil pres/temp, water temp gauges, inlet temp gauge
- 2.5" mild steel (exhaust / turbo fabrication)
- 205 GTi/RG Steering wheel
- GTi6 brakes
- Strut brace
- Twin slim line fans
Quote:So current spec is:
Rebuilt engine with:
- new waterpump
- new Cambelt
- new tensioners
- new sump gasket
- new ARP head studs
- new Valeo clutch
- Rebuilt DarrenLobb 11mm Bosch pump
- New Bosch duraterm glow plugs
- New oil breather hose
- New inlet/exhaust gasket
- New oil sandwich plate
- New 3.2L TT fuel filter
- GT2052S & K-Type EGT Probe
Other stuff:
- Autometer boost gauge
- Autometer EGT gauge
- Type R Oil temperature & pressure gauges
- FMIC
- No exhaust
- Pressed plates
- S16 seats
- Uprated rear shocks
- Beam lowered 60-80mm
- GTi6 Struts/Shocks 60mm Springs
Today I had a good look around her and began tidying the bodges the previous owner(s) have left me to deal with. Now I remember why I usually try to buy cars that haven't been owned by young'ans (no offence to anyone but old people take more care with cars).
Firstly it needed a good clean inside so I set off with that.
Before:
After:
Fitted a new fuse box cover (under steering wheel) as last one was cable tied on.
Does anyone know what the brown plugs for that's missing the fuse?
Also fitted new covers on both passenger/drivers side foot wells to hide all wiring/cables.
Then got rid of the gay imobiliser thing in the middle:
Before:
During:
After:
Next I stripped out the ghetto sub/amp wiring that was running down both sides of the car and fitted my 6x9's, refitted some side trim/cloth and changed both the rear lights that both had one of the prongs missing and the plastic covers:
Before:
After:
Here's a little "during" shot/teaser:
Engine bay is surprisingly clean excluding the hole and related oil/rods/debris:
The damage:
And a few of the bits I have ready to go:
Stack EGT:
Adapter plates:
Valeo clutch:
FMIC kit:
D8A:
GT2052V:
Lastly, I'm having a bit of a dilemma with the drivers seat. It's on a 5 door rail and needs transferring to a 3 door rail, a separate thread regarding this can be found here:
http://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-22777.html
That's all for now.
Thanks for reading.

Your brown plug is missing a relay for the electric rear windows...which I would think yours dont have?
Looks like a fun project
PS I got ph1 centre console all flocked in black if you interested...I just want it to go to a home now...let me know, I got vents too and eleccy switch surrounds

Mmmm this looks familiar haha
Yet another car my estate has recovered this year haha
And Piggys right, the missing relay would be rear electric windows.
Nice to see the improvement coming along after the mong of a previous owner haha
Oh, and I would start looking for an unmolested gti6 interior or put the original back in, I have the misfortune to have met the kid who "adapted" the seat's to 5 door subframes... Let's just say he's pretty special ;-)

Ah, makes sense seeing as it's de-wipered.
Not really looking to spend a fortune on bits like that but if you want to tempt me, feel free.

That's what I meant sorry, the bosot gauge is Stack.
6 previous owners, most of the old MOT's / service history.

Hope so! Just hope I have no major issues as the engine isn't really getting a "full" rebuild.

Yeah, keen for a unmolested GTi6 interior, door cards and wind deflectors atm.

This is it now, final curtain call.
All the bits I've ever wanted to do to a 306 are happening on this car. VNT, 11mm, lowering, big brakes, struct braces, leather seats, etc etc.

Taxed until end of month, MOT until July or something like that.
Start my new job Monday and currently don't have a suitable vehicle to drive there..
Hmm!

Indeed, this one should be good fun, taking advantage of that low-mid range fueling Darrens provided!

Errr, no it's currently waiting for a set of wheels that will hold air..
Boost can, start my C++ programming job Monday so Aurdino could be on the cards in the future, but probably not. It seems like a ball ache for not a lot of gain?
Anyway, here's some of todays events:
Firstly tidied up my FMIC kit, cleaned all the silicones as best I could, then the pipework, then sprayed it all up black so it's a bit more stealthy:
Before:
After:
Digged out my AutoMeter boost gauge, thought it was a Stack one but my mistake. Doubt it'll ever be seeing 35 PSI on a VNT though..!
Then set about making some adapter plates up for the VNT:
Templates:
Exhaust mani almost done:
Turbo hotside almost done:
Unfortunately didn't have a hole saw man enough for the job so might have to take them into work to get done quickly.
The finished product (for now):
Went pretty well considering my first attempt at making adapter plates.
Still, need to do a few more bits to them but it's a good start.
That's all for today!

Hahaha fair enough, bugger! If you can get electronic control working right the benefits are huge, but a boost can will do the job if you're careful with your right foot i guess. Be keeping an eye on this, looks promising dude!

So engines out and shouldn't be long before she's boosting on the roads.
The damage to the block it came with was.. Impressive.. Especially considering it's on Lucas & K14..

Don't worry about it.
The donor lump needs all the shinies putting on and the bay cleaning up then in she'll go.
Looking for a TD04L at the moment as mine has a fair bit of play and the GT2052V will get fitted later on down the line.

Haha, me looking happy about going underneath to undo the driveshaft bearing nuts, wading through the copious amounts of oil that the block had spewed out. Looks like the conrod endcap has let go as its not connected to the crank any more. Sump is pretty dented but the block took the full force as seen in the pictures.
So yeah, engine is out. Need to spend a bit of time swapping bits across and then get the thing on the road so Trent can start saving money on fuel
Before hand, went out to the sorry looking 205 and removed the Lobb 11mm pump and also the new glowplugs.

Not sure really, it'll be done by end of next month at the latest I'd of thought!
