Is the tonne of smoke only when using the throttle?

Chances are it's probably got a boost leak. Check the usually, jubilee clips, seals etc.

Although, greyish smoke is usually unburnt raw diesel in the exhaust, does the car misfire?
A moments silence please, for our brothers in the NAD-zone.

Got no misfire and a small boost leak but that should make the smoke black and was smoking on tickover what sort of psi should I be running ?

Sounds ike what happened on my Golf when the turbo oil seal popped... Couldn't see anything behind through all the whitish grey smoke...

And exhaust, if it's grey it's more likely to be exhaust side.

Probably oil sitting in your intake piping.

Rag it more often, and stop granny shifting. Rofl

Probably burnt all the engine oil by now.... lol

But seriously. If you haven't already, do check the level! Just because it's clear now doesn't mean the issue is fixed.
