Jonny's GT20s HDi Estate
#1
I guess I should start a bit of a project thread for this!

Bought it from Dum-Dum and put it off the road for a couple of weeks as he wanted his wheels back and I was painting my Nimrods.

Cossack grey FTW!

Ordered a Stack boost gauge, just need to get the mount finished now.

A few mucky pictures, went up over Wrynose and Hardknott pass today Big Grin

Still can't get over how much power there is, when the clutch holds

Not much to do really apart from MBC, Clutch, and some bigger brakes.

Cheers for looking!

Aye, didn't really think of that

I'll sort out some brakes first, then we can get the lot done all at once, cheers!

back on standard brakes is it?
with brakes i always think, get the best you can afford! and with that power 6 brakes as a minimum i would suggest

Yeah, HDi brakes atm.. They're not too bad but they do fade quite quickly.

I'll probably chuck grooved discs on if/when I can afford it.

If you decide to get 283mm ones then get the 307 ones as they are cheaper and a direct fit Wink
thats what I have on mine like, grooved discs I wouldn't bother with though unless you like changing pads, just use decent quality standard discs and good brake pads (Mintex 1144 spring to mind), should be more than enough IMO

or if you have 16" wheel's on go for the 302mm 307 disc's and caliper's, with the master cylinder they are very good brakes Wink

That's what my other option is, Just not too keen on the weight of them!

Yes, I know, but they also weigh a ton over the 283's and are harder to find and cost more money, and as Jonny said, they are his other option lol do keep up Tongue

Told ya it was EPIC. IMO It wants a hybrid turbo but for now id get 302mm brakes as Fading GTi6 ones isnt fun when youve just spent £££ upgrading and £££ on fancy pads.

Just go for 302mms especially on those roads.

No offence Chris but I have the 307 283mm brakes and have never had a problem on "those roads" with brake fade and I do tend to drive it pretty hard!

But then you'd be going slower, cause you're braking too much...

Honestly, with correct driving style and decent pads, you shouldn't be fading brakes... I really can't see the issue, people will agree on here, I don't drive SLOWLY, I do like to give my car abuse, and I've only faded my 266s when they were on wank pads.

Exactly, simple answer, if your fading any of the bigger brakes then you are using them too much, brake less/drive properly Big Grin
