25-04-2012, 02:31 PM
so far you guys have helped me work out where to find the woodruff key, how to plum it up and now the only issue is the timing. which is probably a tooth out! pretty successfull thread i think!

I cant work out wether you just sat the pump on your engine and expected it to work or not?
25-04-2012, 02:36 PM
no i put some bolts on it aswell!

Cant waitch the video at work, but from the photos its pretty much fully advanced? Have you double checked the cambelts right?

So thats actually a no then.
You need to go back and re-read this thread, your issue has already been said.
26-04-2012, 08:54 AM
i didnt get a chance last night to have a play but from what you guys see is it too far advanced?
so could that mean there definatly is a tooth out? Quote:(15:06:27) Toms306: Wd40d it and had a good tug, came straight off
26-04-2012, 08:57 AM
It says to me that its either a tooth out or the pump has a problem.
26-04-2012, 09:00 AM
right at least i know what area to start looking in. will update tonight or tomorrow!

When you move the throttle arm how you were it should start revving it's tits off immediately, that seemed really delayed.
26-04-2012, 09:56 AM
yea its very un responsive on the throttle

Mate,
CHECK YOUR TIMING Dont bother replying to this thread until there is a photo of the crank / pump / cam pegged in tdc.... At that point, people can start suggest potential pump issues etc.... until then, check it, as about 50,000 people have already told you to...jewiz | Dyno Power Runs & Steady State Facilities Available, Just Ask Anytime |

its working! due to 1 tooth being out! has a bit of a rough idle but nothing that can be fixed. seems like it "searches" for a good rpm
Quote:(15:06:27) Toms306: Wd40d it and had a good tug, came straight off
26-04-2012, 09:02 PM
The hunting idle might be because of it still being a bit retarded or still having some air in the system. If its just air it will fix itself after a good drive. How far advanced is the pump now?
26-04-2012, 09:03 PM
as it was above. starts really well now. ill have to drive it tomorrow then have a play with it on sat. those 6mm to 3mm T peices came today so the gauge should be installed on sat too!

Ok, i've just come off the phone from ben and it seems to still not start at all.
I'm not a professional, but comparing his pump to mine over facetime, it seemed his pump was sitting very far forward? yellow - ben' sits white - mine sits

What's the difference mm-wise from the nearest edge of the cylinder head..?
30-04-2012, 07:11 AM
It should be roughly 3/4 of the way around the slots with the top of the pump towards the engine......... but you can't really tell from that pic because of the angle of it photo and because there are no real reference points in shot.......... a pic of an actual bolt and slot on the bracket would help though.

hmm
when ever i have done pump swaps i just listen for when it sounds 'right' for a diesel, find where it gets clattery and put it back a little bit |
