I want to have a 3 door so I can cage it. Once thats done I can probably get rid of the fondmetals (put them on the estate or another daily) and fit some mad brakes. Then the 3 door can become a semi-stripped track car!

If it's a diablo 6 wouldn't be cheaper to keep it a 6 swap all the bits over.less hassle more power probably cheaper less hassle with insurance.

Yep thats true thats why ideally i need a 1.8 3 door! 1.8 is better in the twisties!

Latest update... I have run out of money for this month. Doing 600+ miles a week has considerably crippled me. Plan as said elsewhere is to get the estate on the road and reshell this into a 3 door and make it into a track weapon.

In the mean time with lack of funds I have received a spare lower engine mount housing, reverse cable and gti6 gearstick. Plan for the engine mount housing is to get the stock mount out and fit the baker BM one whilst its off the car and then just swap the housing over. Much easier than doing it on the car I feel. GTI6 reverse cable and gear stick are going to be used as im sick of the current setup which makes it very difficult to reverse and consistantly makes me look like a tool when parking.

Other things bought and not used i the polishing kit for the fondmetals. I have a bit of time at the moment and with no money I got started with this. For anyone who has seen my wheels we all know they are always dirty. I bought them with a bit of corrosion and fitted them straight to the car. Theyve only got worse and caked in brake dust.

Sanding with 240 and 400 grit cleaned them up and got the brake dust off. Then the harsh wheel and black compound...

and then the medium wheel and green compound... which leaves everything pretty shiny!

Still one more wheel and compound to go. Need to use the smaller polishing bits to get around the base of the rim and around the valve. Looking much better than they ever have been. Its taken probably the best part of 3 hours to get this far on one wheel!

Do you want to polish the other 3 wheels? It only takes about 4 hours to polish each one of them. And then they only all need priming and respraying!

Sounds good. From previous experience I know he doesnt even need feeding or any drinks. Such a machine.

Be my guest. Just spent another 3 hours of my life polishing one up more and sanding another one down. Need to order some more wheels as the ones I've got are noe clogged.

Need to get the tyres removed so I can do the edges properly and get the valves removed as its impossible to get around the valve properly.

Worth getting some nice bolt in valves then??

If it's the polishing wheel that's clogged then run it up against a blade, one you don't really like I find when I'm polishing heads it works a treat

Update. Winter wheels are on and by god they are terrible. 4 lovely white oregons! The 5mm spacers I had for the front of the fondmetals are now on the rear to stop scraping on the arch liners.

Also fitted the gti6 gearstick and new reverse cables. Bit of a problem with it being taught so it goes into reverse not 6th... working on that one!

I hate it. The throw is massive. Im not sure I can even put it into first when strapped into buckets. I tried heating up the stick with an air gun to get the reverse plastics off as its the same diameter as my short stick. Ideally I want to try and fit it to that to make some kind of hybrid stick haha.

Also rehung the exhaust which should give me a few more weeks driving whilst the estate is being fixed.

Tomorrow should see the car being tidied up and cleaned ready for the christmas meet.

===========================

On another note the car did make an appearance in this months Performance French Car. Picture coming soon!

So this christmas meet came and went. The car got cleaned in Gloucester. Didnt come out too badly apart from the wheels. Great weekend and a good time with all! Everyone was amused by the noise and the pops and bangs. Did 570 miles in total which is about 2 tanks. D:

The estate is kept at my grans house under the car port as the garage is full of things. We are however now making a start on the garage and there is a slim chance that this may become the home of the 1.8 whilst its undergoing the reshell and going track spec. Its tight but it does fit in and there is a bit of room to work.

Started like this...

and after an hour got to this....

lots of family things in there so need to get everyone together to make sure nothing sentimental gets binned. Hopefully next year itll be empty and I can use it. Im still enquiring about the workshop across the road from mine. Would much rather work in there as there is lots of room but if not this is a decent fall back.

are you blind? These have been brushed painted white and are kurbed to hell. Seller was a massive liar and I never did get the spacers I was promised. VAUGHAN I will get money out of you for those spacers especially seeing as you sold them to Grant.

I dont know where the fondmetals will go. Ideally I want big brakes on the 1.8. Itll probably end up on silver TD 1.2s and the fondmetals will go on the estate.

Get a GTi6 to reshell the 1.8 mate that way you get the 16v head and cams you want and all the shiny brake and suspension bits already fitted.

Yeh its been about 2 years now. Ive complained numerous times to both seller and forum admin. I was willing to let it slide due to the fact they cost £100 and came with 4 new yokohamas. Just seller didnt stick to his word of getting a nail removed and sending me spacers. What annoyed me more was he sold the spacers to grant so he effectively double sold them...
