Just tiger seal it then he won't get it off! And just hol a drill in your had (plugged in) so it looks like you drilled it!

Cool well today.... I had my MOT and.... IT PASSED! Two advisories: Rear brake pads and play in NS wishbone. All good! This was with Carl Chambers so it was done in good hands! I also got my gti6 brakes, braided brake lines and gti6 inlet manifold fitted. The brakes are epic and pretty much put you through the windscreen on emergency stop! The inlet manifold sounds great and takes up a lot of room in the engine bay!
Also the garage had a few project cars, a green ford anglia, a 106 Dimma, a escort mk1 AND THE PUGONDA! Also I had a sit in one of Carls 306 touring cars which was epic! I also got to drive Decs dturbo... it has a lot of pull but for a very short amount of time! Sounds epic with the turbo suction noise. Was especially epic through town making people turning round witha burbling petrol and a hissing dturbo! Once we got back we grabbed some bacon sandwiches and then set about swapping over the doors from my 1.4 to Decs car. Swapping the doors was relatively easy once we worked out how to do it! Also the above photo. Seeing as dec lost his drivers arch liner i decided the best way to get the door bolts off from through the wheel arch. I undid the bolt and then got the ratchet spanner suck between the bolt and the wing... and obviously because it was a ratchet spanner i couldnt do it up to get it out! Tom got it out in the end! Also we found the reason of why decs central locking, electric mirrors, and electric windows didnt work... the drivers side door loom was completely ruined! Also a few of his doors were held on with nile blue nuts. Definitely made of bits that car! :nope: Also Dec likes the sound my chicken makes.... Anyway! A brilliant day and tomorrows EA meet should be epic!

4WayDiablo Wrote:looks good, bet it sounds a lot better with the manifold on? yeh it sounds a lot more powerful. im pretty sure it pulls less at lower rpm but it seems to come alive at 4-5k! its got a resonator bung in the manifold and Carl said that made it noiser but also created a flat spot so I presume the awesome sounding 2-3k where it doesnt pull much is due to that. Anyway... low down speed for an epic sound isnt a bad trade! The gti6 brakes are amazing though definitely a brilliant upgrade especially as the only cost me £30!

Also I got the stanceboard to its next stage. 80mm wheels instead of the 50mm wheels. Its got poke, lows and rake!

Well bad news... people who have me as a friend on facebook may already know that i had a little bump. Basically I was kinda asking for it really. I needed to turn left at a junction so indicated for an appropriate amount of time and then slipped into a pretty small gap. The guy infront put his indicator on to turn to a left before mine and started to turn. he then braked so i braked... then he went... and then he slammed on and i went straight into the rear drivers of his brown astra :/ Some foreign dude anyway. I drove down the side road and parked up and went to see him and he just left his car in the middle of the road. I told him he should move it in so he did. We looked at the damage but most of the white dusty stuff came off to reveal a scuff across his bumper... He said some kids on bmxs went straight infront of him so he had to slam on... he asked me what i wanted to do... I didnt admit i was in the wrong but obviously i was for being too close in the first place. I offered to share my insurance details but he didnt particularly want to know, so i offered him £30 cash to fix it up but he declined that. he asked me again what I wanted to do and I just said 'Well the perfect option would be that I drive away without going to insurance and we just call it even'. he agreed. We shook hands and left :/ Little bit I think as I was in the wrong for going into the back of him... I guess he thought he was in the wrong for slamming on :/
Anyway... damage didnt look bad in the dark but its a bit of a bugger now ive checked in the day light... Just a bit of a bugger about the black masks having their clips broken and my mint bumper now being scuffed. Little chip on the bonnet but all in all it seems to have survived very well!

Oh well, at least you have a spare diablo P3 bumper at ho.......
Oh... :/

Also, I've gotta say, this car sounds awesome when Sam boots it!! And easily overtook me when I let him

Oh I also forgot the mention that there is a petrol leak under the bonnet on one of the fuel lines. I have now done the fuel clip up as tight as possible and wrapped it with an old headrest cover. It was quite bad as you could smell it on the inside of the car whilst at a stand still. Seems to have stopped now but once I get home itll be number one priority... however when i actually go home may be another thing entirely D:
Also I havent had time to service it which is annoying me lots. Currently -750 miles overdue and ive still got to make a trip to wales and back to ipswich before I can get to my tools and get round to servicing it
15-03-2012, 12:53 PM
Told you it smelt really petrolly at the weekend lol!! Is the pipe split or just not done up tight enough do you reckon?
If you want a hand servicing when you're back I don't mind. You can check the sump plug this time though!

Fuel leak eh? On the return pipe or the feed pipe?
The new inlet will improve throttle response brilliantly but like you have noticed - it will affect the powerband somewhat, with a good initial response and then a fairl sizeable flat-spot. Being lower displacement than the 2.0 GTi6 you haven't got the oomph to push you out of that rev band so you do have to keep the engine singing to make the most from it. Haven't read anywhere about you planning a de-cat system yet, but don't be tempted by it. Pro's- Lots of noise. LOTS. Pops, bangs, spits, FLAMES Con's- Loss of driveability, no low-range pull, difficult to drive around town and impossible to drive quietly... Upsets the fuelling somewhat and can eat lambda sensors up. This destroys already poor MPG... Still have loads of pics from my project on both the 1.8 XS and the cabriolet which I bought so have loads of pictures and remember most of it too...Bane of my life that engine! Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Its on the pipe with the white connector on the drivers side strut top. In everyone elses conversions everyone plumbed the new fuel lines into the 90 degree plastic pieces but mine is plumbed straight to the straight connectors. I presume this is the problem so ill check this out at some point. For now it seems to be leaking a lot less now that ive done them up very tight.
I complete agree with you c.a.r about the low down pull and then a flat spot. Its not particularly noticeable around town etc but on the motorway at say 55-70 it doesnt pull as hard as before. It hasnt got the box that sits under the manifold and it has a resonator bung in its place instead. Not too sure how it effects it as i obvioulsy havent experienced a 1.8 with the box on. Its already got a decat on it but i dont think its that noisy and it definitely doesnt spit or bang and i purposely tried to see if it would do it but it wouldnt. Funny problem atm is when the car starts all the dials spin about 150 degrees and sit there. Thats all the gauges including temp and fuel! Fixes itself in a few seconds though!

Spinning dials points to a battery fault mate, get the multimeter out and watch for an illuminated battery light during running, as this could indicate a faulty battery and/or alternator...
Anyway... The resonator pressumably holds more ambient air inside the manifold so there is a greater quantity of air as soon as you open the throttle. To me that sounds like it would actually improve throttle response, I've never agreed with these resonator bung thingies anyway as there isn't conclusive evidence of a gain. Usually a resonator box is in-line with an airbox to help reduce intake noise (bad) but on a GTi6 it's actually a resonator inside the manifold (confusing) so I don't know how it really works, all I know is that I've never driven a GTi6 or 1.8 equipped with a GTi6 inlet mani that hasn't had a resonator box attached. Who knows? How many silencers in your exhaust? Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Ive got a gti6 exhaust manifold and full exhaust system to go on but cant afford to have it fitted.

I had a leaky supply line and so has grant. Mine turned out that the guy had lied and didn't sell me fuel hose. It was heater hose so went brittle. Quick trip to halfords for some Goodyear stuff and it's been perfect since!
You got off lucky with the bump there. Oh and despite what some say, this mod won't eat lambdas unless your using gti6 injectors. Providing the engine is otherwise healthy and you've used your 1.8 injectors, it will be fine!

Round 2.... I lost... AGAIN! grrr. Was in morissons reversing into a space and a brand new mondeo reversed into me! D:
grrrr... so the to do list now... is new wing, replace broken hockey trim clips, repair broken headlight brackets, clean up the bumper.

As Niall said, my fuel line was leaky too, the rubber had reacted with the petrol and gone brittle.
-As to the resonator bung. This should make the manifold quieter, as the only real purpose was to resonate the air going through it to create noise. Hence the name resonator. The bung quietens the induction noise, but gives some silly small power gain. About 1-1.5 bhp IIRC. Flat spot in acceleration: I have noticed no larger flat spot in mine that when the plastic 1.8 manifold was fitted. The 16v engines are funny like that in peugeots. Both my 1.8s almost feel like they have 'boost' when you hit 4-5k as the power just increases somewhat. But then that is the purpose of having 16 valves i suppose. No huge flat spot over here though. Gutted to see the ding though mate... Hope it gets sorted... Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club 2000 Moonstone 1.8 Meridian - Sold 2000 China 3dr XS - Dead 1998 Diablo 3dr XSI

Should be alright... like it was a 11 plate mondeo so £80 and not going to his insurance should be in his best interest! After all these incidents im taking forever to switch lanes and putting on the indicators a lot earlier... also sticking between 2 and 3k like a pussy but im enjoying the noise a lot! I agree with what you say about boost between 4 and 5 k! It really kicks off and pulls well up to just over 70 in 4th!
