not much done this weekend as ive had company
![]() but what i did get done was: water hoses all re-connected, just need to put the rad back on, and im sure those of you who have dealt with heater matrix's before will regognise this little bastard ![]() and secondly, bit of a problem that i foolishly failed to see when putting a phase 1 dash into a phase 2 shell, forgot to change the bloody wiring loom so dash has to come out again and swap all the wires. bit annoying but at least ive caught it at this stage instead of getting pissed off later on by electrical gremlins resulting from mismatched wiring and plugs. so heres the first job next time i head down the workshop ![]()

the invoice for the oil line arrived, £47.92
thats just for the parts: straight female connectors £5.89 90 degree female £11.11 m12x1.5 adapter £2.97 m16x1.5 adapter £7.13 hose per meter £7.42 washers and other fittings £4.80 VAT £8.00 all genuine mocal connectors and goodridge braided hose so yes it could be done cheaper I guess, but I would rather pay that little bit extra for top quality parts when it comes to vital oil feeds

Also, haven't been feeling particularly motivated this week so went out in a 1960s volvo rally car today, certainly got the enthusiasm back for stripped out road rockets

back down the shed again last night, sorted out all my wiring loom, managed to cut out all the unnecessary wires for what would be the petrol engine loom, must have saved 2 or 3 kilos out of the loom alone.
![]() dashboard back on now with correct loom and slightly lighter ![]() ![]() also got all the oil and water hoses connected on the engine, all thats left to do is put the rad on ![]()

finally got around to re-wrapping the turbo downpipe with some titanium fiber stuff, massive overkill on a diesel but what the hell it makes the bay look cleaner
![]() and yes i did transport it wearing a seatbelt haha and i noticed the downpipe has the same diameter of a coffee mug, fits right in there haha ![]()

I carnt help but think your engine aint gonna last long, cos you havent done any thing to support the boost, hdi/forged rods, new head gasket, arp head studs???
Think its alot of work to rip it to bits agin when it goes bang lol

Lol you should do that, and then build the old engine up so you got this to play in why your building the engine then it shouldn't be a big job just swapping engines over.
22-06-2013, 09:32 AM
Perfect time to get some numbers off the turbo while its off the car.
What arp headstuds have you got? Agree this really would have been a good time to beef up the bottom end a bit while the car was all in bits, will be a pita to strip it all down again once you've got it back together. |
