I got a spare set of clones if you ever need any
just going to tidy it up when i finish uni and get on with selling it. Been quoted £300 for engine conversion to a 6 but then id have to supply an engine and i might as well buy a gti6 to begin with...
Always tempted by a 6 but 150+hp and 50mpg is just the more practical choice until i have more money to spunk on a 6!

Ok well before that last picture it had a clean.
and then the fan on the hideaway unit was a bit noisy so i decided to clean the 'black' out of it. Quite a lot of it too!
and a quite test wire up to see if the PS2 adapater works properly! And it did!
Of course I had to have controllers to match the colour of the car!
and then test wired the reversing camera. Must say its very good for £10 delivered!
So yeh! Just got to wire all this up tomorrow! Should be interesting. Currently the dash is out and the passenger seat is out!
tbh im not a ps2 fan and ive only got it because its the easiest to install and it fits perfectly in the tray under the passenger seat. The standard xbox is much better but obviously that would never fit under a seat and also powering it i would need an inverter!

Anyway yesterday I went to go and see Tom as I needed to pick up some parts (Roof bars, slam panel, centre exhaust, cupboards and OS driveshaft) and I needed a piece of loom for the ps2 install to save cutting up my loom.
Of course I got to work straight away and climbed through Toms hole.
and then I set about putting the hide away unit under the seat... When the seat is all the way forwards its visible but when the seat is in its normal position its completely hidden. Hopefully passengers wont kick the shit out of it!
Also it was about 3mm too high and caught on the tray under the seat so today i whipped the seat out again and added a piece of plastic (from an easter egg box) and gaffa taped it to the box. Basically it just forces the tray to slide over the unit instead of hitting it and stopping!
Also I had lost the audio cable under the carpet somewhere so I got that out and put it into the aux of the second head unit. Sorted! Obviously a quick game change from Most Wanted to Underground 2.
Of course we were driving a 106 and a 206... sitting in a 306!
The PS2 is wired into the cigarette lighter so it stays on standby all the time and restarts if the car is started but it stays on when the engine is turned off. Slightly annoying interference when the engine is running but itll rarely be used by passengers whilst moving! Played for 40 minutes without the battery going flat so yeh... one happy Sam! Note the colour co-ordinated controllers!
Also after 3 months I finally have my stickers! Cheers Scott for sorting them out. Repn 306oc

yeh hopefully Ill get it sorted out at pugfest or something. Its not a crease just a massive dent! Im fairly happy with it... just annoyed about the hide away box being a bit noisy and the PS2 not detecting the controllers half the time D:

Right todays work! The radio was just sitting ontop of the exhaust tunnel and kept falling into the footwell when driving. So finally i got round to relocating it. Ill write up a guide for this in a few weeks!
First off I cut up the lower centre plastic to take the radio.
Didnt mark it out and used a disc on a dremmel for a really square cut. So glad i didnt use the round sanding bit! perfect fit!
Unfortunately the radio was too long and fowled on the air channels so I had to remove those which removed the rigidity of the plastic. Going along some of the joints with a hot glue gun fixed that! Also because the channels were removed the hot air would just blow onto the radio and it would probably over heat. Unfortunately there was no gaffa tape so i had to layer electrical tape! No doubt ill have to take it out and do it again properly soon! Also I cut and drilled holes for an ipod and aux connector which is hidden in the holder with the lid! You cna probably see in some of these pictures a switch and some wiring which is my footwell neons!
Happy Sam. Picture taken by the unhappy and apparently cold gf!
Finally fitted!
Job done! Looks pretty good but looks a bit wonky. Havent screwed the console in place yet so hopefully it will level out a bit! Anyway! PS2 stuff all done! As I say Ill write a guide up soon and hope everyone likes it!

That looks pretty tidy, although as you say it's a little off. Only a little though, and I'm being pedantic There are far more things in my car that aren't in line or noisy or creaking at the moment so I hardly have a leg to stand on
I'm looking forward to seeing the PS2 write-up

Yeh its a bit off but its basically supported by the corners so the bottom left just needs to be dremmeled out a bit more. Im reluctant to dremmel it though as its such a perfect fit for the cage i dont want it to be loose! Its all fairly easy stuff just made sure i planned everything before doing it! Also having loads of spares is always a bonus as you can give things a few goes or do things differently. Luckily everything worked first time this time!
Annoyingly i keep reaching to turn the volume down when im driving and then realising that its now a screen!

Well that went well... the battery is completely flat. Presume the PS2 got left on over night Its on charge now so hopefully it will work later. Whoever designed the HDi battery box was obviously a moron. On the 1.8 there was a bar you had to unbolt from across the top of the battery. On the HDi its bolted at the base so Ive just had to use a socket and all my extensions to get to it!

Coolers just add boost leaks anyway lol.
Sam, I thought we (you...) worked out the switched live so the ps2 powered down with the ignition off?

erm... yeh we probably did find an ignition wire to wire it in too but i decided to put it onto the back of the cigarette lighter. Probably the best place to draw the power from. Ill be doing more work on the car in a month or so so ill probably sort something out then!

Right well after handing in my assignment I decided that I finally had time to get my tracking done! The car had been under-steering massively in the wet... and the dry. National Tyres & Autocare is opposite the university library so I drove straight in and the guys were brilliant. Tracking for £29 and when i mentioned i was getting new wheels they said they would re-track it free of charge if I came back in the next two months!
Anyway up on the ramp! Out came the fancy lasers.
5 degrees out on the front! D: They were pretty shocked with that and said that it was no wonder I had massive understeer problems! Anyway they did discover the PS2 in the car and they liked that. Even more impressed when I said the entire PS2 install was under £150 and the car only cost £350!
Looking underneath myself there is definitely a few things to fix. The exhaust was pretty sound but had come off the middle hangar so i popped that back on. Also the spare wheel was completely flat so they filled that up quickly. Most of it seems to be held together with cable ties but there wasnt a lot of rust which is odd as there was loads when I first bought the car! Also a small oil leak from the front of the engine but nothing drastic. Really impressed with the service I got. Good chat with them, fairly cheap i think for tracking, free retracking and they even put on a seat cover before they got in the car!
The drive home was much better and the car drove brilliantly. The car actually felt like it was going in a striaght line and the steering wasnt fighting or causing the car to spear off in one direction when i drove over pot holes!
Also the tracking had ruined the front tyres so last week I went to put my spare steels on. Didnt have the tapered bolts for them so could only swap one cyclone on which I had bought off tom with a tyre for £10. So 4 the four brand new tyres were all put on at the same time and the rears are now 8mm and the front are 2mm D:

Right after the success of the last post heres another update.
Been thinking about 6s and stage 2 hdi and seeing as ive got the hdi i might as well go stage 2 so expect to see some epic estate action on track at pugfest!
First up my tyres were pretty bald so i picked up some uniroyal rainsport 2s from camskill for £33 each/£144 delivered. £20 to fit all of them and ill get them balanced soon. Theyre fine up to 80 atm anyway. Was a bit hard to find somewhere to fit them on bank holiday sunday and places wanted £15 or £12.50 a wheel!
Got them fitted on the shadow chrome cyclones from the 1.8 instead of the bubbling silver ones off the estate. Then putting them on i noticed they had been rubbing on the inner arch liner so that was removed.
People keep telling me to get a belt...
And i dont think my rear brakes are working...
So this is how it stands now!
Also some of the engine cover mounts had snapped off so I was given some new ones by one of my coworkers. A bit shorter but they screw in perfectly!
Ive been having lots of problem in traffic going to and from work. On the m53 it took me 4 hours to drive 35 miles. And tonight it took me an hour to drive one mile! Such a joke. Anyway last day working in chester tomorrow! Many of you will know from facebook that I have got a job working as a Technical Consultant for IBM which starts in October. Should be good! Anyway in tonights long traffic jam i bumped into Mooey65 who used to have a moonstone hdi on here about a year ago! Now rolling in a 2.4 audi estate we had a chat whilst rolling along and not having small drag races.
Our conversation went like this:
Mooey65: Nice ride. Whats the retail on one of those?
Me: More than you can afford pal.... Peugeot! Bwwwwooorrrrpppp Psssshhtttt
And then of course the inevitable loss against a 2.4 petrol... Still i was going 50mpg and he was doing 6! D:
Anyway Ive saved the best till last! Bucket seats! In an estate! I got a cobra monaco and a monaco s off sam for £85 including sliding rails. Essentially they are exactly the same seat but with a slightly different fabric if you catch it in the right light! Just got to buy the cobra frames and some harnesses now!
On the left!
Thats it for now. I finish my job in chester tomorrow and Ive finished uni so im spending a week partying in liverpool before coming home for the summer! Plans for the car in time for pugfest include... Fitting bucket seats, gti brakes, lower strut brace, FMIC, Stage 2, Stripping!
Thoughts?
ps - may have to cancel FMIC so I can buy a decent phone. These pictures are crap!
