ok then, so a few people have asked me how long it takes to build a truck turbo 306, heres what i wrote down during the build, bearing in mind this was all done during evenings and weekends after work
Bought a Bianca xtdt that had been off the road for a while under a tree, it was green, so the job list started with clean,T-cut and polish entire car - 10 hours repair ignition wiring due to non starting - 2 hours repair drivers door loom - 3 hours fit new window motors in all doors - 1.5 hours sand and spray sideskirts - 3 hours fit sideskirts - 2 hours remove and spray mirrors - 1 hour fit laguna splitter and refit bumper - 1.5 hours repair dents and scratches - 6 hours phase 3 headlights - 2 hours new cv joints and boots - 3 hours now for the good bits: turbo fitment and manifold fabrication - 15 hours remove turbo and refit (many times) - 8 hours total fit and refit downpipe - 2 hours relocate brake lines due to turbo fitment - 0.5 hours relocate battery top boot - 4 hours weld in battery box to boot floor - 5 hours relocate water hoses - 1 hour oil lines for turbo - 1.5 hours replace leaking oil returns - 1 hour fabricate cold air feed - 2 hours relocate wiper hoses and modify bonnet - 1 hour heat wrap exhaust manifolds and downpipe - 2 hours coolant and oil change - 1.5 hours refit interior - 2 hours adjust clutch cable as rubbing on driveshaft - 2 hours trim wheel arch liners - 1 hour 4 wheel tracking - 1 hour suspension height adjustment - 2 hours fit exhaust- 2 hours and finally, tax, mot and clean off oily handprints- 3 hours thats most of the important bits done, there would be several more hours of swearing, threatening to scrap it, cups of coffee, more swearing and angle grinding on top of that there you have it, how long it roughly takes to build my car enjoy

Been waiting for some bucket seats for the last few months and now 4 sets come along at once! just got to choose now, best choice is looking like a pair of carbon kevlar recaros
also managed a couple of layers of base coat on the morettes during coffee breaks at work. just need to start my new job then i think itl be time to order some forged shinies

Starting to get there, still having to wait hours between coats due to freezing temperatures, should be finished by now!

finally managed to get a coat of gloss on while the weathers nice which i was pleased about:
and then after a trip to see sam last night, got new shoes on, another set of pro race 1.2's but 16" already looks better but could maybe do with coming lower by about 5-10mm perhaps

yours seems to sit at the same level as mine, defiantly needs to go lower at the front.

looking good mate.
I wouldn't ever bother painting that bonnet, I kinda like it

Haha, I get very mixed opinions from people on the bonnet, il take the stickers off once I fix the heatgun as that's my biggest annoyance about It other than it rattling all the time. But still, staying yellow for now as I would rather spend my money on making it go faster :p

Is it me or dont the hocky stick bits not quite reach the wings, looks really good tho!

Ah, yeah its an issue I found when they were on, basically the donar car for the lights had a dimma bodykit, wide arches start at the indicator so the previous owner has trimmed the hockey sticks to compensate. Very annoying but Il think of something to fill the gap Was a bit unsure on morettes but soon as I put the first one in I loved the look. Also notice the gap between light and grill where I trimmed It to fit the crystals

the morettes look awesome!
btw are the morettes H4 or why can you just use the inner hole as a cold air intake?
10-03-2013, 08:35 PM
The outer lamp is h4 yeah, the inner lamps on morettes are just extra driving lamps.
When I find some crystal inner lenses I might put them back but I also kinda like the look of the air feed trumpets

oh okay.. I hate H4s but the look of the morettes makes up for it.
you can use one lamp and the other as cold air feed, seen that on here somewhere, looks awesome

I'm not the bipggest fan of h4 bulbs either but morettes are worth it, half the weight of crystals too Might be changing the front bumper for a phase 1 sports so could have spotlights in that to compensate for h4s
