No worries
I was amazed by how much it all moves in 30 seconds too tbh.
Some of it could be down to shake, i.e moving my hand from the camera after pressuing the shutter, but in on a 30 sec exposure I would have thought you'd hardly notice it.

Cheers Dan. As I say, didn't see it at all when I took the photo, wasn't until I got back to the office and had a look that I realized it was there, otherwise I'd have taken it again. Oh, that and the yellow salt bin
Dan! Wrote:That would be an idea Burnmw, although feel free to just ask in here aswel if you want, helps keep the thread alive and full of info
That first shot was just taken in colour and then editted using photobuckets built in edittor, which lets you use a tool called 'colour splash', which means it turns the whole photo B&W and then you highlight the areas you want to be brough back into colour. I did it with that photo to bring out the cats orange fur more and try to get the focus on the car rather than the backdrop.
Cheers for that, only reason I suggested a new section/thread is so that all of the tips/techniques are in one place so as not to keep having to search through (what looks like its going to be) a long thread.

I found with my slightly flimsy tripod that when doing long exposure shots its best to just set a 2second timer, so press the button, hand of the camera and then it starts the exposure. Loads of my shots were coming out blurry from not being able to let go of the camera steadily...

That will be you pressing the button, the earth moving will only ever blur the stars since the tripod is sat on the earth and moves with it, use a 2 sec or 10 sec self timer so the camera can settle after pressing the shutter
Edit - @ dan, i will get it done later, oh and I want a bloody multi quote feature dammit

Right, this was a first attempt with a crappy tripod and not my best camera. but i still couldnt believe how many more stars were picked up than could be seen with the naked eye!
Taken an hour after sunset
Taken in full darkness and I cranked up the contrast to full to see how many starts so the quality isnt great!

Dum-dum, only just seen your photos, theres some good ones in there - especially the one of me with the NOS's cinquchento (sp?)
Heres a few of mine from a week-ish ago. Parked up at the top of a multi story car park and saw the view, and thought :o Nice! Photos dont really do it justice, but theyre not bad...

If anything I wish some of them were slighlty more detailed/clearer on the horizon, but tbh I guess thats probably down to the cameras limits, most of them were taken at half/three quarters zoom and the horizon must have been a good 2 miles away. Anyway, enjoy, and post more

Not really a photography thing but when I used to live in my old house and took the dogs for a walk, this was staring at me....
Not great quality as it was on a camera phone, I didn't want them to move while I ran to grab my actual camera!!

Cheers buddy! All a learning curve for me...
I keep meaning to go out and get some more long exposure shots of the car at some point, so hopefully have some more to contribute soon. I've got loads on the PC that need going through too.
