Erm obviously didn't get the bottom part of the nipple out which I thought I did. I wouldn't run on that if that's the case just incase she suddenly lets go and the new nipple doesn't seal. (I've seen Rowell on track) bring it back and I can go a bit deeper lol. Or just put a new calliper on. Shame it didn't work.

I've put a different caliper on lol (did try explain that in the post), just need a new nipple for it as it's blocked.

Oh ok, could be annoying then, will have to get a list together for Sam to order from Peugeot. Also are the rear nipples smaller than fronts? Where is best to buy those if so? Sam has some spare fronts afaik...

Also just seen your edit about front nipples. I have snapped front nipples before, but that may have been down to lack of experience, I do seem to have a better 'feel' for how much pressure can be put on things before snapping or rounding now lol.

yesss its all coming along well. Hopefully we can get the coilovers and exhaust on soon and then we can take it for an MOT. Once its road worth we will be able to start with the bodies and other goodies. Right now I just want to have a car i bought not working... working!

Well what a day it has been. Arrived at 10am to help dad get crap out of the house. Tom rocked up at 10.30. We checked the sparks which were all tight and put new ones in. Got the car on four stands and bled the brakes up which went super well. Also replaced that seized nipple so working brakes are now a thing! Handbrake cables fitted into position and a few cable ties for good measure.



Next bash rocked up at about 12.10 in the estate. The neighbours went out so we topped up fluids and got it running waiting for the knocking to appear. Whilst warming up Bates arrived in his 6. Then the knocking appeared and we added the oil flush to see what would happen. Nothing really but worth a try.

We listened to it a bit more, took the cambelt cover off and thoughts are now that its top end. We decided to ignore this for now and Tom put the cambelt cover back on. Bash left along with the two beams i needed rid of.



Amazingly some how this picture was taken of me actually doing some work. Old "Torque Technique" exhaust off and piper exhaust on along with the magnex "cat". Lamda back in etc. Car was now ready for "testing" so wheels on, on the floor, bolts torqued up.





Before going for a spin, safety first. We fitted seat covers over the mould. When i say seat covers i mean handbrake cable bags and bubble wrap.





Went for a little drive up the road around an industrial car park. Car feels super good and really planted. Exactly the same feeling I got just sitting in other peoples gti6s etc. Made a bit of noise and then took it back and got a few pictures with sams 6 before parking it up again.




Hopefully tomorrow we will have a car cleaning day and get rid of all the mould and grot which has developed. Im looking to get the MOT booked soon and get the cambelt swapped along with dropping the oil and flush out of the engine. Still lots to do but essentially ready for the road!

So after yesterdays shenanigans we decided to go for day two. It started out with some rain and some standing around until a break allowed us to get started on the cars. Tom and Sam arrived so the driveway was a bit full.



All the cars got a proper good clean and I needed to get rid of loads of the cleaning stuff I hadnt got through in the past few years! The saab got a big clean including toothpasting the headlights which seemed to brighten them up a bit.



Sam and I grabbed a pizza for lunch whilst Tom went home. It was raining over lunch so we didnt know what we were going to do in the afternoon. A bit of xbox and mighty car mods later and we decided we should probably clean the rallye. We drove to grans and tom met us there.

First job was to vacuum the entire car and demould the seats and seat belts.



Sam loved this job.



They came up alright but still seem to be stained. The rear bench is good. Parcel shelf back in and all gloveboxes and door pockets emptied and cleaned. We stripped the carpet and sound deadening out of the boot as this had had it.

Seeing as I had the toothpaste on me we did the 306 lights. No pictures but sam took great pride in cleaning the bonnet catch...

interior done we set about on the outside.





All done! Sam headed home whilst Tom and I decided to do the last few bits to make it MOT ready. Tom swapped the wiper arms over as these the blades were knackered and they didnt seem to have any spring left in them which made for poor contact with the windscreen. I topped up the fluids. We also swapped the washer jets for xsara jets seeing as I had those lying around and we didnt have anything to clear and align the standard ones. Good work and hopefully I can get an MOT booked for next friday!

Hopefully yeah. Still not sure the load comp is in the right place but all the brakes bled through fine with a replacement rear nipple, no leaks and we have a solid pedal. Sam said they felt ok on a quick drive, but anything has to be better than the 1.8 brakes tbh!

yeh they were fine on the drive. I dont think we ever worked out what was wrong with the 1.8 brakes.

Forgot to say this in the last update but one of the speaker grilles was loose. I pulled it off and tom and i laughed as there were no speakers in the doors! Previous owner seems to have taken all the audio out but the shelf and an amp earth wire in the boot!

What stereo is it Sam? I can decode some standard Peugeot ones.

Its the standard clarion. Found the instructions below....


Pull the radio out so you can read the barcode/serials

Now, you take the last 4 digits of the lower barcode, eg 1 2 3 4

You now add 1 to the first number, 2 to the second, 3 to the third and 4 to the fourth.

So:
1 = 2
2 = 4
3 = 6
4 = 8

Another example

2 = 3
4 = 6
5 = 8
1 = 5

Any number that ends up greater than 6 can't be entered on the radio, so you simply subtract 6 from it.

Where are you Allye? Over near combe? Its pretty good really. Engine is the main thing to fix along with the rust.

Spend half my time in Devizes just down the road from Combe. I remember the guy didn't seem to have a huge amount to spend on it and looks like he ran it into the ground a little!
