Good results bud, these engines do respond well to decent breathing! Considering the miles it's a cracking result

It still on standard air filter and box so will a cone filter improve it much? Its on my to do list
02-02-2013, 08:47 PM
Mine made 167 with a little bit of head work, and a back box, and that was over 100k mileage
02-02-2013, 08:49 PM
Thats pretty good. I tempted to do a bit of head work on the head that i got on my spare engine

Done a few bits on this. I changed the passenger side skirt as the lacquer had gone funny and got faded. The 1 I took off had been carrying a extra bit of weight
And a pic of the car with no side skirt on. They look completely different with out the skirts I have also replaced my Avac pipes with blue silicone pipe as the original pipe had gone hard I replaced the other diaphragm as well after I had done my modification on it with consists of a bit of brake pipe and sticky flex Also it decided to start playing up on idle again yesterday. It revs up and down again. So I cleaned out the idle control valve again. I think that it played up again as the breather pipes weren't very clean and had the horrible moyo crap in it. So this time I took the oil filler and breather pipes off a cleaned them all out so hopefully I will be ok this time

yea i need to take off my oil filler cap as mine has a bit of mayo in there i think mine is due to a breather pipe that has worn through by the bonnet lol. how difficult is it to take off??

Its not to bad just take the breather pipes off that go to the air pipe and then undone the pipes that go to the oil filler and then its 2 T30 screws. Give me a shout if you cant work something out
I think i should be able to work it out. i have had it all off before when i done the headgasket but its been a couple of years since ive had it apart lol. I remember you saying you have a spare engine i dont suppose you would wana sell a breather pipe its the bigger breather pipe that comes off the top of the filler cap to a pipe on the air filter setup lol. it has chaffed on the bonnet and i think its that whats causing mayo in my filler cap.

Yeah i can do if i still have it. I think i know the pipe you mean, I will check when i go up my mates farm next. Prob be tuesday night. I think these engine just get mayo in during the winter when the weather is a bit colder.
Yea that makes me feel a bit better about the mayo situation lol. ill post up a picture of the pipe im my project thread so i dont spam your thread to much lol.

I mostly do short trips as work is about 8 miles away
16-02-2013, 08:19 PM
Cool its just a pain having to keep cleaning the idle control valve but i can live with that
16-02-2013, 08:29 PM
Poss something to look into then

I have just replaced the electro valve so i will see if it has made a difference when i go home after work.
Also i think i might fit the gear rods i brough of Sam to this and see what they are like
21-02-2013, 03:12 PM
Are they the baker ones? Fapping awsome if they are, good luck with the electro valve bud

I want to say that the new electro valve has made a difference but I'm not really sure but at least I know now that it is a good 1 I got on and it's all working as it should.
Also I've had my central locking playing up for a while so I need to have a look. Pretty sure it's a fault with the driver side loom cuz if I give it a wiggle it works

Defo got the pipes round right way bud? Should feel a big spike in power around 3.5k
22-02-2013, 10:36 AM
I does seem to go ok though. Which way round should the pipes be? I'm pretty sure there the right way round
