Isn't 6.5hp more than the little indoor carts that are already capable of 30-40mph? This should be pretty damn quick if the batteries don't weigh it down too much...
just looking at the perameter set points on the speed controller
i think it is set to ramp to full power in 4 seconds soooooooo.
if the motor can pull the weight and i get the gearing right..0-60 in 4 seconds ????
there are a lot of IFs in that!
if the batterys can deliver the Amps
if i dont shit my pants
if it gets finished
yes!!
one of the main sticking point is......was the batterys
i have found some......FOR FREE!
i love working where i do.
they have changed some battery packs on some electric tugs cause they were faulty... but not the whole pack is
so im getting the good ones out the pack.
6volt 250Ah lead acid x lots but only need 4
only down side is weight but the motor and speed controller can eat the amps now!
well not really we did the show and tell thing with the school last night that was cool everyone was interested which was good.
then off they went to play with the school hovercrafts ah coooooooool i want one!
no no i digress
the Kart is home in the garage now on stands and i have stripped off all the old electric gear
think im in my element in the garage hammering cutting grinding
one of the issues i have is mounting the large motor as it wont mount on the existing motor mounts so i have had to fabricate a beefy mount that wont flex with the torque of the motor, so i have built this out of 3mm plate steal
am hoping its adiquet if it flex's i will weld some ribs onto it
another photo update
have finished the motor mount system, fingers crossed its going to be strong enough to hold the torque of the motor
all painted and have mocked up the install
the motor sprocket and bush turned up in the week so i can get some dimensions for the mounting of the speed controller
so now onto the next part of mounting the speed controller
What about one motor per wheel? Could even have a smaller motor on each front wheel! 4wd elecy cart ftw! (btw I know you probably couldnt power all that but does sound good!)
oh dear!
ordered a second hand seat and it dont fit the kart between the seat uprights being an XXL seat.
so now have to really think about plans for batterys and seat mounting
thought long enough!
so ive cut off the seat supports off with a disc cutter
i love the disc cutter
so now ive had more ideas on battery mountings so im having to refabricate the seat mounts which gives more room for the batterys one ether side of the seat
have also bought battery cable crimp lugs and a crimper for 35mm crimps
