Got a few bits to sort out and im getting fed up of getting a lap full of water when it rains.
The water leak is first on my list to do. Get everything sorting in time for show season

Haven't really got round to do doing much to this. My first plan is to try and sort my wonderful water leak. When I move the car water seems to piss out of here
So Mark was over today so we dropped the sunroof out to have more of a look
The roof you can kind of see the channel that the water seems to be coming out which is the channel that the sunroof frame bolts to
The bit of the sunroof that goes against the channel on the roof
I really cant work out how the water is getting into the channel though which is really confusing me
And on other news I got my hands on another XUD engine that was on ebay and local. Its out of a xantia so its a DHX so I guess that's a bonus
And I started to strip it down
So the plan is to strip it down to a bare block and the rebuild it with hdi rods and new gaskets etc. Then fit it in the car and use this engine as im pretty sure the head gasket is gone on the current engine which I am pretty keen to get apart to find out the issues with it.
I got tomorrow off work so im hopefully going to get my hands on some rods and then will see about sorting all the other bits I need and get rebuilding the engine sometime soon

On Monday I got some HDi rods ready to go into the engine. Not as easy to get them out as I hoped it would be but got there in the end.
The big end shells look pretty good so I plan on reusing them so that will save a few quid
Comparing the rod next to a XUD rod. Noticeable difference
I have also got the engine a bit more stripped down. I've got some engine degreaser coming ready to give it a good clean and then be rude not to paint the block

Right, I have got the engine stand now as jimbo has finish with it as he was rebuilding his engine. So i got the engine onto the stand
I drained the oil out of it then took the head off and stripped a few other bits off
The head looks pretty clean from the quick look i had at it
And the head gasket. Its a MLS gasket so would that of been standard fitment on this engine?
Hopefully i will get it stripped a bit more this week and rods out then look about giving the block a lick of paint

Sorry if I misread somewhere, but are you absolutely sure the sunroof drains aren't blocked?
If they are, the drain pan fills with water and overflows into all sorts of weird places.
This post is an artistic work of fiction and falsehood. Only a fool would take anything posted above as fact.

I blown down them with an air line and can hear the air coming out the other end. May try and pour some water down them to make sure though

I've had a bit of a look but I need to have more of a look tbh. Think half my issue was I used to much sealer when putting the sunroof back in

Or could it be the locating/mounting brackets for the sunroof or the sunroof itself?

The sunroof frame can only go in 1 position though. Its hard to explain in writing what I think the issue is but when I had the sunroof out the other week I couldn't work out how it was getting where the water was coming in from

Well bit of an update. In my spare time I have done a bit more to the engine. I got the pistons out and stripped anything else off the block. Then degrease and clean the block. Then gave it a lick of pain, blue of course.
I got the pistons off the rods and have got a new set of piston rings to fit that I picked up on Saturday. I have clean channels out on the pistons so will prob see about fitting the new rings and getting them on the hdi rods tomorrow night and hopefully get them back in the block this week.
I gave the head a bit of a clean to check it and before I get it skimmed. Pre cups have some cracks but think that is pretty standard issue
Think that's it for now but I hope I can update later in the week
