That standard induction/inlet pipe really needs to go!
Because it's just a cheap runaround... I don't really care about power. As long as the air filter works, it's good enough for me. I don't see the point in a cone filter on a diesel, although I have plenty sitting around if I change my mind.
So as is quite obvious by now, I've painted the wheels. So here's my £18 refurb.
So first of all was to key up the paint. Luckily they're in pretty good condition paint wise, being fairly new. Then I had to knock the plastic "bolts" out with a punch, as it was necessary to mask:
For masking up, I highly recommend fine edge tape. Not only does it give a nice line, as it says, it's very pliable, allowing to follow the curve of the wheel with ease:
Brilliant stuff.
So then, primer (after a sand):
Puuurple:
This one shows the metallic pretty well:
My car was looking pretty strange half way through :
Then set about the very fun (not) job of sanding down the "bolts" to spray them up:
Did the centre caps the same, a) because I didn't like them and b) because I didn't have enough purple left:
Made a "fake bolt re-fitterer" to try and not damage them when tapping them back home:
The result:
The finish is better than the factory one, so can't be too bad. I've already decided I don't like the centre caps, so working on something for that.
Apologies for the filthy car, I will try and get some clean ones soon.
