to be honest the motor isn't as powerful as id like but it should be powerful enough for 10mph
the gearing i have chosen reduces the gearing of the Axel 20/1 back to 10/1 so it should be twice as fast from standard form, but with half the torque. as i couldn't stop the thing and it ran me over in standard form I'm quite confident it should pull my weight

thats not to bad, just less acc.
haha, totally have this image of you being attacked by a vicious cart monster Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club

been and measured up Ive got to make a swivelling motor mount bracket so i can tension the chains
so Ive come up with this the blue bits are existing frame hollow tube on the cart the top orange u Ive made which mounts the motor, now Ive got to fabricate the lower fixing swivel then just join the two

with your batteries might it not be better getting hold of some li-ion ones?.
My uni use them for their electric race car. want me to see where they get them from? Quote:(15:06:27) Toms306: Wd40d it and had a good tug, came straight off

Cully is it a 12 or 24v motor? What size batteries are you after?

it will be 24v volts i have my eye on some gell leads at the moment
but what you thinking on Niall? fire alarm batts liions would be a bit over priced for this project but you never know in the evolution of the build

cully Wrote:it will be 24v volts i have my eye on some gell leads at the moment Yeah the batts we use are suitable for deep cycle but gel batteries would be better for what you want. What sort of size are you after? At the moment all I've got is 7ahs and a few 12s which I know won't be ideal for you unless your planning on running 2 big banks of thrm

or i might have 4 not quite sure yet

cully Wrote:think i have a pair of 21ah traction deep cycle gells Spot on. What you using to charge them? I need something to charge the batts in one of my projects but I haven't got anything. Was thinking about using a car batt trickle charger but not sure if that would be ok?

pictures of dash and throttle controller
the throttle controller works on a 0volt to 5 volt signal 0v is off 5v is full throttle this unit talks to the motor controller which converts the 0-5v to a motor speed
19-05-2012, 08:42 PM
Nice. Im presuming that the throttle controller is incremental? Like its not just on or off right?
The guys at my uni built an electric tt bike and the first time they tested it it was no power, or max power! Im sure you thought of that tho haha Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club

Looking good, your going to do yourself an injury again
samass Wrote:Nice. Im presuming that the throttle controller is incremental? Like its not just on or off right? ^^ I would think so yeah
19-05-2012, 09:03 PM
no injury's for me this time I'm going to get a test pilot in to try it out first
Kayley or lewis now which one? yes the throttle has a programmable ramp so you can alter the speed ramp and the torque curve but its preset I'm looking into the software and cables to program it
19-05-2012, 09:05 PM
Whichever you would miss the least if it all goes wrong obviously
