but by the time i went back it had gone!
but I tracked it down and have just bought it
april 2001 HDI Dturbo 130kmiles 10 months MOT taxed till November
completely std car needs some bits to make it nice but nothing large, only bits of plastic and a wash

So you sell a perfectly decent practical daily which you have known for years...
To buy a less practical 3dr HDi which you dont know from Adam?!
Seems a bit mad!?
And how much did you pay....£450?

cause its cheaper to by a replacement than to keep the estate on the road + the estate should pay for this one when it sells

A £140 tax 3 door. Exactly what I might be after soon. £500ish?

Pointless purchase is pointless.
Unless you got it MEGA cheap, I fail to see how it would have cost more to fix the HDI considering your WIW post makes it sound pretty good?
This sounds like man maths.

Nope, not even then.
Only way to keep the existing tax would be to fraudulently backdate the V5...

well its the first of November so time to tax this car and start using it as a daily,
filled it with fuel and went for a drive....how disappointed i am in this car compared to the estate
this car in std form is so numb and lifeless it needs a good kick up the arse!
jobs done so far
Decat
single backbox stainless catback
Blanked EGR
boost gauge
oil filter change
Taxed
Driven
this car is going to get a stg 1+ tune from jammapic
only seems fair as ive tried maps from whippy and Pro-steve.
so if this dont liven the car up abit i dont know what will
watch this space

They are pretty bad standard tbf, stage 1 does make them driveable lol...but obviously still won't be anywhere near the Rallye that you've probably got used to now!

The estate was at a stg 1 tune so the new car should liven right up at stg 1+ as its the same ECU code and year

HMMM i have an issue since filling up with diesel the tank seems to be dripping diesel
need to go out and syphon the tank out and check the filler elbow joints
oh and its on a jammapic stg 1+ map which has livened the girl up somewhat
cant believe how quiet this car is to drive compared to the estate

Mine was doing this with the previous owner (Razorback Rob)
Turned out the high pressure line from the tank had a small split in it which was leaking down the side of the tank, noticed it had been rubbing against the return line and worn that also so replaced* them both did have to drop the tank but thats only 3-4 bolts
*Bodged
Cars looking very tidy! looks like you had a brucey bargain

mine looks to be leaking from the breather off the top of the tank to the filler neck
probably leaking cause i brimmed the tank
and the breather looks to be a fixed pipe to the top of the tank which is a bit of a but hole if it is

Yeah that's all one unit, easiest way to check is to get someone to turn the ignition on while you have a look. Mine started pissing out when the pump primed
