Before I start, I should point out this will be pic heavy, standard for me.
I needed a cheap runaround, so I picked this up a few weeks ago:
It's Emma's (Fozzy's partner) old car, which I've always liked. Picked it up with a few nice additions and unfortunately a blown head gasket. However, John did give me a spare known good head along with an unknown Bosch, lines and injectors.
First thing to do was to put all my audio kit in.
I did drive it a while, to confirm mine and John's suspicions. So the next thing I tackled was the cheese-wedge stance. This turned out to be an absolute bitch of a job, with the beam being seized solid:
Even with heat this proved ineffective. Until such point that it broke.
So after that, I lost patience and smashed the arms off. One side free'd completely (N/S, naturally), but the O/S remained a bitch. So I took the arm off and got it pressed out:
So with that finally done out, I set about cleaning everything up. Which was all very nice and corroded:
New bits:

With the car now sitting nice and level:
I set about doing the head gasket.
First problem straight away is the EGR won't come off to get the manifolds off. So I decided to just take the whole lot off.
Lovely fuel filter housing:
Head off:
This is the replacement head:
...and this is the one that came off:
Lovely!
Head stripped to change stem seals:
Made an EGR blank as that bastard wasn't going back on:
When it was running I noticed there was a grumbling which was getting worse, so I needed a replacement aux tensioner:
That's where the photos stop really. After putting it all back together, went for the first start and it started straight away. Result, I thought, just needs some tweaking. After a frustrating day, it was discovered that the pump wasn't very well. So I had to source another pump, which is all I needed. Once that finally arrived, as there was a fair amount of confusion with the courier, I stuck it on and it was pretty sweet from the start. Although I still need to fine tune the fueling, as it smokes like a bitch. There's definitely too much fuel still, and I want to keep things sensible and reliable. So that's what I need to do next really, along with fitting a boost gauge to see what it's running. Then I need to sort the mess of an engine bay out, a phase 1 rad as at the moment I have an expansion tank with nowhere to mount it. Oh and I need a rear light, as I got annoyed... Thanks to Matt for helping me finish putting it back together and Samass for helping diagnose the pump.

I got them from a specialist for slightly more than Peugeot, as you know, they want you to buy 5,000 of everything. I'll find the website if you need? They have a parts list from last year you can check against. Only thing they didn't have was the black ARB bushes, but they can be bought individually anyway. Ordered in the afternoon, arrived next day.
I like the green 'clones (yeah, they're green) in the sun... But when it's overcast they didn't look too good IMO. I was going to do them bright green, but I much prefer the XXRs anyway. I don't really want it to be "another 306 on Cyclones", yawn.

Yep . Haha, this is true. I do really like it though, drives better than any of my previous 306s by a long shot.
Rolled the rear arches today as I found it didn't really like passengers too much . I tried to do it a small amount to start with, unfortunately it needs doing some more.

I completely forgot I even took any photos when I did my audio, so here those are:
Destroyed:
As there was already a hole in the top glove box for a USB I decided to stick the crossovers there:
Then made some spacers for the Focals:
But for some reason I didn't take a picture once I'd sprayed them black... Oh well.
Also have to aplogise that most of the pictures were taken with my potato.

Ooh I love the spacers. I've only used basic plasti rings but never thought of shaping something up to make it looks slightly more oem
