nope.
need sandwich plate bolt...ozone posted it fri...so mon is Dday if I get all sorted tomorrow.

I was only tacking the pipe in place to then remove and weld up using a mask! had me eyes firmly shut!

although I have like 4hrs to sort the loom, oil lines, coolant pipes, aux setup, oil breather pipes. just to try starting it!

holy crap, what a mess:

loving the psa interchangeability. phase3 car, with a phase1 loom on a phase1 406 engine. with phase2 306 ancillaries. And all the plugs are there...loom is getting moved and chopped a bit though, want to try and keep it tidy.

other pipes are getting there. Oil line to turbo is done. waiting on the sandwich plate bolt still. Dodgy

once thats here, get some diesel in, battery on, oil in and a trial start

(obviously almost none of the pipe work or wiring is where it will be once finished in that pic! lol )

(oh and welded up the exhaust pipework meself in the end. found some self shielded non gas mig wire, and it was rather a game changer, some quick trial runs, and I gave it a go. came out ok)

looking really good mate Smile

Epic mate, can't wait to see this finished... I wish I could make things as shiny, I just give up after a few minutes!

Are you using a plated stock exhaust manifold with a pipe to bring the turbo there? Or kinda done your own manifold?

Embarrassed to say its a plate onto the manifold...not ideal I know...but due to time and expense it has to be that way.

If all goes well, I want to make a custom branch mani and all the pipework into stainless...but I am holding out for that as I am not 100% confident in the head.
I may end up putting a xud9 head on it if the xud11 head cant cope....so be pointless to fork out for top notch mani for a head that may not be

make sense?

PS I am hoping to meet up with you mate...as you are pretty close to me...once done, help me with fine tuning...perhaps join me at a RR for setup?? beers your way and rep of course!

So close to being done! Looking good mate. Really hope nothing leaks. THen you will just have to wax the entire thing so it doesnt get dirty lol

So shiny, fancy coming round and cleaning / tidying my engine bay?

Plate on standard exhaust mani is the way to go really, done me so far.

Yes a proper exhaust mani would be fantastic, the standard one is crap for flow and does do a rather alarming tight 90 instantly, but hey ho, money money money

Yes mate, it'd be awesome to meet up, we need a few of us for a dyno day, once I've got my car done...

Sadly I think the stock HDi exhaust manifold is just too small - that's half the reasons for them screwing up their valvetrain, the XUD one is like a High Performance race manifold in comparison LOL! I think I'm going to simply build a really small manifold that literally goes into a pipe... Sod trying to bring all 4 runners round, it's not worth the time or the effort, but just something to bring it out the head better would be nice.

wana come on Sunday?? help us finished it, you can have a fiddle with the pump there and then!!

The manifold looks like this:

So its not too bad I suppose, kinda stumpy 4branch. I had to use a 90 degree off that but its 2.5" to help the flow and seemed to match the measurements of all four inner pipes that I measured. soon see anyhow.

thought should do a little update due to the efforts some of the lads put in to coming over and helping!...

basically major job was swapping gti beam on and old beam back on the green turd to keep me mobile.

not painted it as yet, as it is hopefully being lowered on sunday by Puglove...what a star

the lads finished the front end suspension...all new joints and links, shafts in, new updated Powerflex front bushes...went in an absolute dream!!!
And the lower brace too.

and some pipework got fitted...dumdum style

hope before sunday I can managed to paint the rear calipers painted in readiness.
Get exhaust downpipe finished and painted.
rear end undersealed.
fuel filter housing finished....

decided on the 2.1 fuel filter housing as its larger and holds a larger filter.
So I stripped it down, cleaned it and modded the stat to stay open so on veg it will always warm it.

ordered new pads all round today...£30! and some other little connectors and bits of pipe.
Need to finished cleaning the plastic top intake mani too...its so gunky...yeauch.
Get the EGR blanked off the the gauge and LDA boost nipples (!) in.
Then final paint.

Just need to order couple last boost pipes to take from turbo, as boost inter piping needs reducing down to turbo outlet size!!!

and I will be dead by saturday!!!!

smoothed the rear one (whata sod!) and used a 3D badge from a wheel centre to make it that bit more special, used cossack grey too rather than the usual black

done the masks too...but got no piccys of them.
