QFT, if he'd stuck with that and put as much effort and money into it as he's spent on all the other cars since, it'd be capable of time travel by now!

That HDi was the best looking car I've known you own. Don't even remember why you sacked it off after you had the engine rebuilt by KrisB.

As has been previously said; your black hdi was the reason I started modding my black dt in the first place. I loved that car.... until you/kris rebuilt it... But that was only because you never finished properly tweeking it so it went properly...

As has been said by plenty of peope. f*cking buy a car and sink some cash either into the purchase price (and make sure it's a minter), or put some cash into the car you buy to make it epic. Stop half-arsing/rear-ending all your cars and spend some money on getting one right that you can then actually enjoy for a period of time.

Or just keep doing what you're doing, it provides endless amusement for the forum.... Tongue

Its near impossible to BUY a mint car, better off making a mint car then you know its mint, its not often someone sells a car thats mint, as thats just pointless...Just uby a 500quid 306, sink 1500 into it and itl be like brand new, never breakdown, do good mpg, and go fast, what else do u need in life?!

couldnt agree more...

for me it was save and buy a newer car...or grab a 250quid 306...sell what I dont need to pay for itself and new bits and build it to become a almost brand new 306 to my spec and requirements.
you then know every nut and bolt

Chris..here goes..if the shell is tidy and aligned and the rest is generally up-together & reliable, combined with the below statement from Jonny, you will have an epic 406 coupe on those wheels..

Problem is everyones buying old 306s that are over 10 years old and 100k miles, expecting to not have problems the car is at the ages where things get tired. Grit your teeth and keep replacing it will be good for quite some time. Look at the lad with 300k hdi no major problems with it. Wrote of 3 times and he still fixed it

The black HDi was incredible and yes I built the engine myself and specced that AWESOME turbo. But It needed a whole new wiring loom amoungst £5000 worth of other repairs and mods to make it what I wanted. £1000 needed spending to make it into a car that was even close to what id call reliable (the wipers and headlights didnt work all the time and it needed suspension bits just to make it safe)

I'm huge in a matiz but I'd never have another, it under steered horrifically and I could get it below 20mpg (on a 0.8l 3 cylinder engine)

Your all close. Left the house at about 8am today and have been and seen 3 cars on a 400 mile round trip. I've conned a dealer into swapping my coupe (on its standard wheels) for a 306 roadster that hes gonna fix a couple of issues on, get me a full MOT and another 6 months tax. 2.0 16v Full leather interior, working electric roof and also its hard top.

To be fair I did spend all of my last night shift sitting on eBay and autotrader looking at cars while sat outside a crime scene, my college was trying to persuade me to buy one blind off eBay at about 4am.
