So instead of wasting time and money on all this new years nonsense ive spent a full day on the 306.
screen came out today (only one finger sliced open, my partner in crime not me), drilled loads of holes in the bulkhead for gauge wires, raided the electrical cupboard at work for heatshrink and crimpers to get a nice tidy finish, drilled more holes in the dash for wires, relocated the cigarette lighter socket out of the ashtray to the center console, plumbed in the fuel pressure gauge then sorted all the wiring out so all the gauges are now illuminated. last day off work 2moz so another early start to make the most of it, hoping to get the other 4 gauges wired up and mounted, also doing some painting and making up a plexiglass gauge surround

Something doesn't sound right about it given the apparent size of the hotside. Quick google tells us this: Quote:HX40: Either way you look at it, the serial number's for an HX40 or WH1E. Which is ridiculously massive.

with a hotside that big....surely the 1.9 cant spool it up till high rpm?!

I can't find much more info than what I've given you on the turbo, just have to see It In person to make up your mind on it
Anyway, more progress updates. Attempted to get the phase 3 rear lights wired in, I say attempted because I'm an idiot and cut half the wires too high up so an hour of work turned into 4 as I had to stand there with a multimeter trying to decipher which wire was which. Pretty sure I have frostbite now too No pictures today as the job isn't finished and im annoyed about it. Also back to work 2moz so the 306 will have to wait until the weekend

Is it not gearbox mounted? Should be easy enough to take pictures of the serial plate surely?
01-01-2013, 06:17 PM
It would be if it had a serial plate.....

Couldn't resist getting some stuff done on the car today, sat at work all day counting down the hours until i could go home and crack on with it.
anyway, nearly got the new lights sorted, still got an indicator issue but i think ive found the problem now. need to get the new bumper into the painters to finish off the new rear end went back to work after 20 mins messing with the lights to finish off a few small jobs, then clocked off to get some painting done and more polishing of the 11mm pump nice white bits

been busy at work today but still managed to grab 20 minutes to get another coat of paint on the pump bits ive been color coding to the car, one more light rub and another coat of gloss should do it now, pretty pleased with how well theyve turned out.
speaking of pumps though, how easy should it be to turn the shaft? i cant turn it with my hand and am now worried its rusted inside, would be annoying to have to take it to pieces again to clean up the internals. also some good news, ive managed to sort out a pair of carbon kevlar bucket seats for a bit of a bargain price cant wait to get them sorted

no pictures today, but started stripping my new gti rear beam ready to go on, finished all my painting, started re-assembling the 11mm pump and best of all, bough a pair of racetech carbon/kevlar bucket seats and frames for the mighty fine price of £120

have you checked internals of the 11mm RE concern over not being able to turn it??
Wishes for more power...

How do people get bargains like that?! I'm never that lucky!
As for turning a pump, you'll need the pulley on. They are hard to turn but you should be able to do it by hand, and it will 'notch' round it won't just spin. Your pump will be fine it won't have rusted that quick after a rebuild!

I know a few people with rally cars, FIA rules on safety equipment change every couple of years so when these changes happen, things like seats and fire extinguisher systems all have to be updated for new ones. these seats im getting are only 3 years old and only done 3 or 4 rallies there might be some more coming u for sale soon, if they do il buy them aswel and sell them on through here

Got fed up of trying to get hold of people to repair my dented roof so attempted it myself. turned out ok, the line of the roof is straight again at least just got a few high points but they can wait to be sorted properly by a body shop next month after ive been paid. Also, an appointment has been made for the new screen to be fitted (£91.70 inc vat and fitting) finally!!!!
got some other stuff sorted today like making up a plexiglass gauge surround, did a proper precise job getting all the distances between holes equal and the same and equally spaced from the edge. finishing the surround is going to have to wait until monday as annoyingly i dont have a 55mm hole saw and the tool shop is closed on the weekend. when the surround is finished itl be sprayed white to blend in with my newly color coded centre console oh, forgot to mention, got an oil cooler a couple of days ago
