Hmm, they're all welded on a jig, and the holes are oversized slightly already to give them a bit of tolerance - has the subframe/wheel had a whack from a kerb at some point perhaps?

It's possible. I did look under there for any signs of damage and couldn't see any but it's not a problem. I do have a spare subframe so might have a go at fitting it one day just to see.

Usually the metal around the little bottom P-bush bolt will be distorted upwards slightly if it has, easy enough to see from the side.

Yeah could be a damaged subframe tbh but I'm not overly fussed. It's tracked up alright (although it pulls because of a binding rear caliper) and the brace now fits.

It don't look that good. There's loads of chips in it where I dropped it haha. Still only there to stop it rusting! Top one will be properly colour coded though along with most of my engine bay.

I thought the Valeo ones used a translucent blue plastic?
I really want to have a go at masking my headlights soon. Dangerously close to buying a spare set from eBay...

With the valeos vs depos thing, valeos are just harder to do right and even then not much different, just need to heat them more. Look a damn sight better when you do it though.

Car your right it is like a translucent plastic.
I've done black masks on valeos before and it's bloody difficult to do without messing up the lights.
These were done by Cibie with brand new valeo lights. There a few years old but never been fitted to a car.
There is also a fitting difference with the depos. We all know 306 headlights don't sit properly in the wing if they have had even a slight car park bump and the depos make this look much much worse! Valeos are definately worth the extra 40 quid if your buying new ones.

Yea my plan is to get hold of some second hand Valeos and a heat gun and some gloves. Then hope for a lot of luck....
Thinking of spraying mine Ford Magnum Grey. Because I have a can I never used on the shitty Focus...

I predict they will look like this (except the flappy roof bit)
Out of interest Niall, what are you going to do with your old crystals? I suspect you'll sell them on...
