So went back up to Fozzys today to collect some more bits. Car should be fully back together and ready for MOT by Tuesday.

Not a whole lot of progress today.
Fitted gear links from another car for the time being which means I can actually get into gear now.

Dashboard is coming together
[Image: 20120719_130002.jpg]

And an exhaust video.. I'm unsure about the smoke, it looks blue in the video but it is definitely grey, I've checked the oil and it is full.
I believe it's just because the car is running on almost thin air - and the video was from a cold start. Once I've got some fuel to put in the car and it's been run for a while (bearing in mind the engine has sat in a garage for over a year) it should all be okay.

Small update. Been a slow few days as I've run out of nuts bolts and screws to put anywhere so took a trip to Eds diablo to pick up some more.
In the mean time it only seemed right that I spent time painting things!

Hey! It had a bloody great hole in the bottom that cost too much to repair.. lots of other little bits came up on MOT too so I just decided to get rid of it and start fresh, though I do really miss it already.
Cheers!

So not a massive update, been making sure the car is as ready for the MOT as it can be. I've been having issues with the loom I'm using with various bits deciding they don't want to work but I didn't want to use the stripped loom as there were things that it just simply doesn't have and I want, so I cut up my spare full loom and included it into the stripped loom and swapped that over entirely.
Also for some reason having massive issues with the rear seatbelts (spent about half hour trying to figure out how they went in) but now they are just 'locked' in position and you can't pull them down so unless I figure it out between now and tomorrow morning I'll be sending the car in for it's MOT with just the 2 front seats.

Still need to get a rear number plate made up too!

all this is still to go in the car Sad

Good news i have a choice of two heater matrix one from your car or one from the gti next to it? When i get them out i will pick the best one and put it aside along with the roof lining.

Yes, the wheel nearly fell off. Again. Don't try to rush to put things back on early in the morning.

You and wheel bolts are dangerous, you need to use your torque wrench regardless of time

haha, mate that's not a bad result at all!

You may need to get it running, warmed up and idling for a while to get the cat working... That may prove to be a bit problematic otherwise; to the tune of a new cat... :S

I think the rear parking brake is just adjusment of the handbrake below the centre console?

The rest is pish easy to sort assuming it's just bulbs... If not then might be a bit of a mission figuring out where the wiring loom is wrong to not be supplying the repeater with electricity... but look on the bright side for the minute lol!

And sorry, but 'wipers not self parking'? WTF is that?! Mine don't park themselves either!! lol

On the whole, it sounds like you've got minimal work to get it sorted.

For the brake lines, as it's an advisory I wouldn't bother inthe short term, but long term deffos get some of swampys braided lines! Or go to http://www.brakes4u.co.uk/supersearch.as...8982&won=1 or http://www.brakes4u.co.uk/supersearch.as...2163&won=1 for Goodridge or HEL ones respectively.

for Discs & pads, speak to the member Trackbasedtuning on here; I believe they're doing a very good deal on Ferodo DS2500 pads which are the dogs for fast road/light track Smile

I had an emissions test after running the car idle for 30 mins earlier in the week to clear my concerns but this morning I wasn't able to have that chance and it was with a different garage

Not a massive update as I'm basically just waiting on my re test on Thursday before I make any bigger plans.. in the meanwhile I've fixed the MOT fails and advisories..

Rear seatbelts and seats in..

Do you need a roof lining for it mate?

On and for the emissions you want to rag the absolute tits off it on the way there. Get that cat as hot as possible

The MOT station is 30 seconds round the corner so I have to make do with running it on the drive way

It's tomorrow morning! I'll tell you as soon as I know. All I've done is change oil and clean my lambda sensor. It so nearly passed on the last try so this has got to work

Just start it,run it up so it's warm, then bring the revs up to 4k and sit them there for a bit (make sure the fans work beforehand, or disconnect the 'temperature plug' to override the fan operation) just to make sure that cat is roasting hot!! Then take it down Smile
