Sam's low boost supercharged rallye
#31
I think it was rippthrough that was explaining that the safest thing in a crash is to have the upper straps horizontal so it looks like your rear upper mounting would just about give you that.

I had the issue that my buckets were so low that nothing would come close to letting me mount them horizontal on the 4 point belts

The bolt hole that was the upper rear seat belt mounting on the C pillar is the only other option.

Youd have to crash pretty hard for it to be an issue tbh, like bending the chassis hard.

I beg to differ Dum... A crash of any sort will decelerate your body REALLY quickly. All the force pushing against the harnesses (and therefore them pushing back on you to slow you down) will cause the harnesses to work about the pivot point (your shoulders) and push them down, i.e bending / compressing your spine.

The only real safe way to have the harnesses fastened is at a height which is equal to, or within a few degrees of your shoulder height.

There are many articles on the net that say angles of no more than 30* are ok, but for me it has to be pretty damn near level to feel safe.

Thus:

Looks good mate. Really like the car and sounds epic! Ill be looking for a 90 degree silicone joint now ive seen how your filter is set up! My filter is currently straight onto the manifold and rubs on the radiator pipes so gets a tonne of heat soak!

I used to have them... Really hard and only about 1.5in of suspension travel, and kept coilbinding the springs. Ended up buying a set of avos.

Coilbinding the spring?? Sorry what's that I haven't run coils before...

The spring runs out of travel and all the coils whallop into each other with a lovely thump that goes right through the chassis + momentary loss of grip. And fatigues the spring to boot.
Custom roll cages/shiny suspension bits/general fabrication work undertaken, PM me.
Top engine mount repair/reinforcement/chocking for cracked chassis and high powered cars, drive in, drive out, 2 hour turnaround.

Haha £200 a steal of 306gti6.com,Its a abit rough but nothing a can of hammerite won't sort out.Had to drive it today with the rear cage in place today as it was the only way i could get it to my mates,I'll get some better pictures up tomoz,Also bascailly rebuild my front end today new mounts,p bushes, droplinks, balljoints, arb bushes, wishbones then bleed the brakes and done a full service and did the braided lines an gear linkages. Was fairly productive day to say the least Smile

Also toying with the idea of a novice trackday at snetterton at the end of this month

Thanks guys for the comments.
Put the exhaust on friday which is : decat+straight through pipe (heat wrapped)+scorpion back box.
Then get cage in, do MOT and change over the wheels.will be doing my spare set of cyclones a leare colour for track, so any ideas would be great Smile

Ah really happy about the cage as I cost me 200 + 100 to weld the 'x' in.And looks pretty much like a SD 12 point which are silly money, also the X looks great from behind, also got some new rallye stickers coming so the back next won t be looking so bare.

I Give it a good clean up Friday and get my picture whoring on haha

Cheers Sam, I used to feel bad about rural a rallye, especially a black one but I have saved all interior any panels.

I now was on 306gti6.com.luckily the add come up midnight and I thought I had to have it.it's got a bit of rust on it but the Hammerite has sorted most of that.Thinking of getting some fibreglass seat now(sparco rev). Also redone the mirrors, look spot on now.And getting started on some door card soon aswel.

Here s the add My cage

Paisley freight was £35 next day delivery, really rate them.
I always keep my eye out on eBay and gumtree aswel as here and 306gti6, most of my car is made up of eBay deals i.e 4x195 50 15 hancook vetus with 3 mm tread, scrubbed down ready for track = £50.00
