Aluminium Actuator Brackets
#1
Anyone used aluminium for this?

I'm better off with stainless steel but will aluminium do the job?

Opinions, experiences etc please.

I'd imagine it would snap under constant stress unless it was quite thick

Ruan can relate to this...I vaguely remember FCS 2012 on the way back he had 'issues' on the motorway.

As long as it's braced would be fine, but any flex and itl fail after a while...

I'm going for stainless, can't be assed having to pull it all apart when it fails.

Lol, yeah as long as it's not a single bent bit of ally, it'll be fine..

Mine used to last about 7k per strip of ally, by which time I'd usually have to adjust something down the back, so a new actuator bracket wasn't the end of the world...

As said, long as it's braced you'll be fine.

Lovely Engineering! Big Grin 3 points like that should be fine, the aluminium will flex a tiny bit but not distort with the pressure of the actuator.

You are aware you have an aluminium cylinder head... Wink
