Anyone have any comments? Want to do the rear 3 windows on my Nissan, fiat and 306.
Not looking for pitch black tints just enough to stop people seeing in at a glance.
Have seen various tint film and sprays on eBay.
Anyone care to comment (something constructive).
Thanks!

I've done it & it worked relatively well, however I would pay the extra on something like your fiat as that car will still be worth a fair amount & trying to sell it with DIY tints won't be easy.
If you can get the film cheap enough then give it a bash, you just need to use lots of soapy water, a heat gun/hairdryer, and a propper squeegee (dont use a credit card as they scratch the film)
Also as a side note, one of the most important things is to prep the glass properly, wash it down, go over it with a razor blade and make sure it's perfectly clean, lay the tint on the outside of the glass to cut the shape (flip it over so you're not cutting the mirrored shape)

I bought some and tried it and it all wrinkled and was difficult to do. Not worth it imo. Get it done properly.

I tried it years ago with a mate in my metallic gold Austin Maestro using the rolls of film you get at your local auto parts store...well it couldn't have looked any worse than it did before we started !
Echo the "take your time" comments, but I had a quote of £80 for my Corsa last year and I'd rather pay someone to do it right than mess it up myself.

Its a c*nt of a job, use a heatgun a little fairy liquid mixed with water in a spray botlle, dont use to much just enough to do I find is best, also good quality tint is half the battle, the cheap tint is rubbish I find its usually thicker and more of an 'ignorant' film to use.

Its not hard but is an art that many dont have the patience or touch/feel for, a lot of it is knowing your materials and practice practice practice!
its the same as wrapping cars, but different properties to the vinyl used obviously, window tint doesn't stretch.

I used to do a bit for friends, generally worked well if I'm honest. However, there were some disasters, I switched film at one point and couldnt make any hand of it. As someone else said, take the rear windows out, far easier.
Rear/boot window, tbh I wouldn't attempt it yourself. It curves in two directions making it a curse to do, that and the piece of tint is massive! And with regard to the squidgy, I put a sock over it, prevents scratches. Other than that, clean the window well, then plenty of fairy liquid solution, and a lot of time and patience!
Gov modded 11mm Bosch + Standard turbo = 137.2bhp . . . . TD04 now in...time to get playing!

Looking at getting this professionally done soon. What's the crack with having decals already on the inside of the window? I take it they'll have to be removed for the tinting film?
Other downside I can see is any future stickers/decals adhered to the inside of the glass will be barely visible?

Yep you'll need to remove any stickers/decals etc because otherwise you'll get an air gap around the edge. Visibility afterwards really depends on how dark the tint is!

joining this thread late. Get it professionally done dont do it yourself. It always ends up being a shit job unless you know what youre doing.
Take the stickers/decals off. youre bound to get air trapped around them and itll look silly. As for putting new stickers on... just put them on the outside of the window?

I think the problem is a lot of forum stickers and the like have the adhesive on the side you look at so it has to be on the inside of the window to be read from the outside

well then you just ask for them to be reverse cut! All of the 306oc stickers are available for internal or external application.
