So I've been on the look out for a new car for a weeks now and have picked up a Phase 1 GTi6.
Absolutely over the moon with it already, fantastic car.
I just happened to look at Jtrigga's project thread and he was thinking of selling it, so a few conversations later, I was on my way to London (on a bus for £5.50 ).
Car is in really good condition, mechanically sound and even all the electrics are working! It's just gone over 75,000 miles.
Plans are just to make it generally epic.
Thinking fast road and track spec.
It's begging for a rude exhaust more than anything at the moment.

Cheers mate, in a strange way it feels like I'm home again.
Not too sure, completely different kettle of fish now. I'll have a read through the forum, there will be some gold hidden in the depths.
Are decats on a petrol legal? Or is it just as long as it meets emissions, you're in the clear?

Looks awesome man, got to love a Sigma '6 .
Yeah, decats on petrols are illegal. You may be able to get it through an MOT with a friendly tester, but won't stop you getting in trouble if it ever got questioned. Worth it though

As curt said it will fail mot with a decat fitted but either find a friendly mot tester or have the cat fitted for the mot

Ok, well MOT is due at the end of next month, so I'll leave it alone for now.
Gives me time to source parts.

I know what you mean.
I'm thinking subtle mods and I'll keep the interior, so it can always go back to how it is now. The last thing I want to do is 'ruin' it.
Why does it have to be slammed?

Lovely car.
In all honesty, if the standard exhaust doesn't have any holes in it it is actually really nice. Quiet, sure, but very well-matched to the engine.
This post is an artistic work of fiction and falsehood. Only a fool would take anything posted above as fact.

Looks lovely man!
Curts right and the simple way of getting around it is normally fit a decat then just change to a cat for mot but a lot of police now are catching onto this and looking under cars for decats. Simple solution - Take shitty aftermarket cat (not the genuine one, if it still works, they are worth a fair bit and becoming rocking horse poo), gut it and weld a straight pipe in. Job jobbed.
