Induction kit for a non standard turbo

Yes I've searched and nothing relevant has come up. So I have a few questions:

1. Is there any way I can keep the standard intake pipes or are they way too restrictive?

2. Is there something flexible that I can just attach one end to the turbo and then bend it how I want to and bung an air filter on the end, sort of like a great big (3 inch plus) vacuum cleaner hose? Or do I have to arse around with metal tubes and silicone hoses?

3. Is there a special air filter for turbo cars that will allow a lot of air through or are they all the same?

Standard sucks, bin it. Yes you can get dual ply flexible silicone stuff ASH sell it, its pretty pricey though. Im sure some people say K&N is the best but tbh, if its a filter it'll be fine. Unless you suck up a child or a bird the XUD wont mind! Oh and unlucky getting banned again

The aluminium piping I have specced is 3 inches in diameter for maximum flow, will that fit underneath the bonnet? Thanks again bud Edit: That lot all seems a bit expensive for some silicone and pipes? Am I missing something obvious or is it just a necessary cost?

Hmm, I've read Anton's project thread (it's only 2 pages long) and have not seen anything regarding the air intake. With a flexi it would need to be clamped to a metal reducer which would then need to be clamped to the turbo intake via a silicone piece. And then a similar setup the other end for the air filter. I'll need a think to figure out which one is best I think.

Personally i would work out how much all those elbows and stuff is going to cost then compare it to a flexi pipe.

Flexi pipe would be reducing 90 from your turbo inlet size to 3" then an ali 3" joiner then 3" flexi. Thats a whole lot less stuff than doing it with hardpipes.

Check out this stuff: http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/silicon...etres.html Just over 20quid a meter. This is what i would do though, if you want to go hardpipe, theres nothing wrong with that, just theres more pieces and it might be more expensive.

I was just wondering if it would fit down the back of the engine but seen as people have done this before I can't see why it wouldn't. Gonna find a reducer now and get it ordered! Thanks!

Look through my threads, find the project thread for my old dturbo and see the stuff I used. Much easier than using elbows and metal pipe as its quite tight.

That's answered my next question about whether the flexi will fit onto a straight reducer, evidently the answer is "no" so I have ordered a reducer elbow instead. Thanks

The standard pipes are shit, the tight u bend on the end is uber restrictive. Get a decent reducer, take it out to a good size and then consider tumble drier hose and en ebay induction kit if your on a budget

Yeah the straight is properly tight, took some persuasion to get it attached. Remember you will need a small length of alu. pipe to join the flexi pipe to the silicone bend, and some clamps.
