I try not to hoon mine until it's got to the 90 mark, probably over cautious but I'm just ridiculously mechanically sympathetic lmao

And water temp, although the standard gauge isn't 100% accurate, 75 degrees sounds pretty dieseley in terms of temps?

Just my thoughts as I've noticed the Xu10 lump likes to run quite hot.

the stat on the oil plate opens at 80c so i guess the oil cooler is effectively cooling the coolant now

i know the gauges arn't accurate but that is all i have to go by until i plug planet in but i suspect that wont give oil temp

75 degrees on the motorway?? That's not right, time for a new thermostat i should think. As Ozone says, should sit at 90 degrees water temp.

well that nearly ended it all in a pile of bianca bits!

decided to take the car out for a spin
only to get the throttle to jam open! Confused

one hell of a brown trouser moment later!
after getting it all back together and stopped I lifted the bonnet to find what had happened

to find the tiny rubber grommet on the throttle cable had slid down the cable and jammed the throttle butterfly cam open

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccckkk

I can imagine that being shit scary especially depending on traffic/corners.

Alright when your brain realises you can just clutch in and brake but your pants will be brown before then.

something else to add to the list
have changed the brake fluid for better higher boiling point fluid so brakes should feel good at coombe for the full 15 mins now Wink

bled through the complete system without breaking off any nipples
also checked through the suspension and securing points all good ready for its next outing Smile

the old brake fluid was tested and it had a boiling point of 166c the new fluid says 300 + on the tin but is actually 290c DOT4 so a vast improvment

dot 5 is silicon based and not compatible and cant be mixed

dot3-4-5.1 are based on poly glycol compounds.

the Dot 4 im using has the highest boiling point available Wink

Good to see its all behaving, this car is lucky to have an owner like yourself.

question is, whats next? From you list earlier on it seems like you've covered most (if not all) corners of the car.
