Painted looks best I think, not a fan of smoothed ones.

But I think you need a new door and front bumper first.

front bumper to go on in primer in shed smoothed rear bumper on smoothed bot lid smoothed bonnet and grill body work tidied up just waiting for warm weather to paint next step is smooth indicators and tint it

Wow, the guy asks about painting or smoothing bump strips and gets his car torn to shreds... Pretty sure if he's going to the effort of doing something with his bump strips he's going to be sorting out the other bits, he probably doesn't need them pointing out.

With regards the OP, go for painted/body colour over smoothed IMO, looks nicer and splits up big panels better... Put some pics up when you're done :-)
