What did you use to hone that by the way...? Looks great!
Diablo Hdi Dturbo and 205 1.9 project - it lives!
23-05-2012, 11:41 PM
I used a honing tool and just poured loads of parrafin down bores while doing it... ive yet to see if its worked properly though because I have a worrying misfire... im sure its an injector though
24-05-2012, 10:26 AM
Bits of swarf from your dodgy pump rebuild in the injector!!! xx
24-05-2012, 12:33 PM
The pump was washed out from the inside out, so it brought it all out dont worry!
I had another shit myself moment yesterday, it took fookin ages to fire and I thought I had taken just too much off the pistons! but turns out connection to the three others on the rail was shit, sorted that and it starts stock now
24-05-2012, 01:51 PM
got to love the banter, How much did you take off them?
25-05-2012, 02:53 PM
1.1 mm off the pistons mark, she starts and drives fine to be honest... I thought that much may have been abit of an issue but its totally clean on idle no haze or anything. Back at uni now... the actuator popped off turbo last night... so was driving about with 0psi of boost... on a decomp diesel this is terrible!
Unfortunately no real interesting photos to put up, had a look at the timelapse which is quite good though on rebuild... One I forgot to put up, of shiny deck Lovely mounting job ! random image from timelapse, guessing angles like a boss!! Gave it death last night with 35psi, and there is zero coolant pressure. dave

looking good. although you seem to have some wired pipeing and a foam thing in the bay now.
27-05-2012, 08:17 PM
Yeh with an expensive turbo I thought was best to get some sort of filtration system on it ash!
Louis I was running 45psi on a tmic before with my old blower
28-05-2012, 08:24 PM
haha sooo what is this exensive turbo? i seem to recognise it but not going to say just in case lol
01-06-2012, 12:41 AM
Through fear that I may have melted something, I pulled the turbo tonight and got it stripped... but all is well, seriously get your EGT gauges on people!!! That would have saved me an evenings work!!!

Oh yes I certainly love the XUD bodgeness... It has to be done cheap else its against the point
This update isn't really car related, although me and the old man have been clearing out shit from the garage, already taken a trailer of crap to the tip... got tons of scrap metal to weigh in!

Love this project. Your very lucky to have a decent garage to work on the XUD esp with that pit in it.

So today.... yeh.... bout that time of the year!
Failed on:- rear load compensator Rear brake pipe ABS light All simple fixes, any ideas about the ABS light though, I dont know why it was on, and its never been on before, just take the bulb out? The bloke loved half the lash ups on it, it stalled on the rollers and wouldnt start again because the fuelling was turned down too much! even after that, it only just passed the smoke test.... 11mm and a few other things still made it horrendous! He also had to come and find me because he couldn't work out how to start it due to no ignition barrel - had to break out the 13mm during the MOT.... Should be good for FCS though Dave
11-06-2012, 01:22 PM
I thought i was the only one the mot tester laughed at when I go to get it done. Glad it simple fixes though I'd just take the bulb out for the abs

Is there some sort of competition between you lot to see who can fit the most obscene boost gauge?
Im getting me one of these
11-06-2012, 02:37 PM
LOL - have you still not fixed that bloody switch yet!!!
I love the fact you had to short the switch out in the MOT!!! With the ABS light, try and remove the bulb, may pass, may not... Or if not - glowplug light mod ftw

Dum-Dum Wrote:Is there some sort of competition between you lot to see who can fit the most obscene boost gauge? Its not for boost Chris lol! Ruan I have a new switch in now dont worry He stalled it and was motoring it over for about 30 seconds, and had to break out the 13mm to open fuel up a tad!.. Just come back from garage got a years ticket on her now ready for FCS

Dave Wrote:Its not for boost Chris lol! Wait, Your boost gauge isnt for boost? hock: Whats it for then, IPP?
11-06-2012, 06:24 PM
No I have the big 80mm train gauge for boost - most important
That small one is indeed for IPP.
14-06-2012, 11:34 AM

14-06-2012, 11:38 AM
