Car you miss most?
#31
E30 325i Black

I'd so many plans for that car but crashed it after 3 months. No LSD,and one wheel on a white line WOT set me in a spin that I'm thankful I never hit anyone or any other car. To be honest it was probably best thing that happened. As I'd probably be dead otherwise. But such a great car. Loved everything about it.

For me undoubtedly my Mk1 MR2 closest thing to a road going go kart I've ever owned. I bought it to hammer it and it took it well before being disposed of on ebay for £400 that was ten years ago now.

Never really thought 205 Rallye's looked that good, but this one looks epic. What were the mods? Besides the grill ?

Trouble is it was so (effortlessly) fast I eventually sold it cos I was scared of losing my licence LOL
I was a very active glider pilot at the time and could not envisage life without a licence!

Should have kept it, they're loads of fun  ThumbsUp

They are fun r3k - mine was an older model (1984) - just managed to find a pic of it - still had pop up headlights Smile

While I was looking for a pic of my old Nissan Silvia (above),I also found this pic of my old diesel 405 estate which I eventually sold with almost 250,000 on the clock (still going strong)

The grill actually went back in! Was only off temporarily. That's lowered about 30mm on S2 106 rallye wheels, that's it!

A lot of people paint the bumpers/quarter badges white but I think black looks best. My van will look very similar but silver steels.

I miss my RX8 already and I only sold it today. Drove it to Leicester today to deliver it to the new owner, wanted rid of it for weeks, really enjoyed driving it but it had no place in my life.

More money for the MK5 Transit tidy up fund though.

God I´d post pictures if I had them online but I don´t right now - a light grey, 4-door 1970 Morris 1300 (Yeah go on laugh!!!)

Bought for IR100 in 1996 as a basket case and intended engine+manual gearbox donor for a misbehaving 1969 dark blue Austin 1300 auto.

Morris was put back on the road for IR300, driven 36,000 miles with normal servicing and no major repair - save for an exhaust - until the MOT was (finally) introduced in Ireland in 1999.

by then and at 101k miles, the A-series engine was too smokey to pass and wasn´t converted to unleaded. The electrics were off-the-wall perished and causing a serious drain on the battery. The bodywork was solid (if roughly finished) - there was evidence of Waxoyl when new.

Given away to a suspected stock car racer as a matter of urgency during a house move to a flat with parking for only one car. What a pain I have in my heart typing this....

I´ve since searched for it but it´s gone.

The 1300 for which the grey morris was supposed to be a donor can be seen in the 'stop right now' video for the Spice Girls. I preferred the donor Morris as it was aesthetically awful but running so well. I sold the other one unmodified to a collector in Dublin who trailered it to the video shoot. He told me that in a year since he had the car, it had never been started!

I have never since travelled so far for so little and had so much fun while doing it!

Ah yes - driving on a shoestring Smile
I never owned an Austin 1300 but when I was working out in Zimbabwe  I did have an Austin Apache for a year in 1984,this was a car built 1971 - 1978 in S Africa by Leykor and in Spain by Authie.
It had the AD016 centre section chassis/body as a basis but the front and rear of the car was more akin to the Triumph Toledo.
The interior of the car was identical to the Austin 1100/1300 and I guess mine was a 1972/73 model as it had the original 'Strip' speedo.
It was a cute little car and nice to drive,2nd gear would not select so I had to rev the nuts off it and go straight to 3rd,it had an oil leak on the engine which I just ignored - I had no facilities or time to fix it as all my spare time was spent Gliding or drinking Smile
On really hot days it had to be driven at 40mph as the transverse 'A' series engine still had the stupid side mounted Rad - any slower or faster and the car tended to overheat.
I remember a stinking hot day when I took 2 friends up for interviews in Harare which was a journey of approx 250 Klicks, having to drive at 40 to keep the water temp reasonable - I pulled into a filling station at halfway point and one of my friends asked ''need petrol ?'' and I replied 'no - but we will need some engine oil LOL'.
The interview was for working on jets in an even dodgier African country so I did not try very hard on the interview and just treated it as a sociable weekend away from the boonies in Gwelo Wink
I was very happy not to get offered a job - the other 2 did and later regretted going to Somalia !!!

These are obviously not pics of my car (cannot find any)...

Hey its not ugly enough to be sired by an Allaggro Smile
On the way back from Harare (as mentioned above) we were all suffering a little with the temps ! including the SU electric fuel pump which packed up 100 Klicks north of gwelo on the way home, luckily I had previous experience with SU's and the poor guy in the back had to face backwards all the way back - clonking the fuel pump (in the boot) with the jacking handle - got us home anyway and I eventually replaced it with a massive fuel pump (twice the size) - never suffered from fuel starvation again LOL
