Think you blokes need to chill out a bit btw all his responses were clearly a wind-up from where I'm sat.
Cheers.

Its the 306oc way tho. Find a problem, then nit pick and kick the shit out of it. Ive said before this is just a dumping place for my project thread because id never be seen dead with the club itself at a show.

And on a show note looks like my dangerous bus should make top 20 at pfc expo again [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] poverty spec ftw

The only couple issues i've seen people highlight both related to you saving your time, money or peoples limbs/lives...
Why can't you just take a chill pill and look passed the person and listen to the useful, helpful, free advice?

Its not the harness bar... Its the idea of having people in the back! Or your kid in a booster seat with harnesses.

(thats how I read it and certainly only my concern)

As far as I can see it he was just fishing because of the $%!* you lot gave him the other week and you gave him exactly what he was after, hook, line and sinker.

As for the shows Jekyl, you're missing out there. They're a freindly, laid back bunch ime Smile

So today ladies and gents i present to you the next topic in this saga to pick holes in.....

COLD AIR INDUCTION!!!!
(and just when individuals thought this thread had gone cold.... get it [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY])

So yeah this is currently a work in progress but im sure you'll get the pointless idea of what im doing.

So theres 4 steps to this plan

- Heat shielding
Plan to move the airfilter to where the abs once was and produce a heat sheild to stop the air filter sucking warm air off the rad.

- larger induction pipe
No secret im still on the standard hdi intake pipe modified. If memory serves me it hits somthing like 38 or 51mm at its smallest section. As much as every guy wishes his misses could suck a golf ball through a straw this just dosnt work out for getting air in the engine. Turbo intake is 60mm so im gonna attempt to get that diameter all the way to at least the maf. Gonna be tricky with limited space so brackets will have to be made to support ash 2ply flexi away from the exhaust.

- cold ducting from the bumper
As it says a trumpet ducted from the fog to under the filter. Will mean hole sawing the inner wing to fit a trumpet for the exit which unless stated to me other wise i believe will need reinforcing after. This will be fully black... no show off "look im an air feed trumpet" shiney stuff here.

-custom made lower boost pipe to remove restrictions
If im going to the extent to free up the intake id be a fool to not address the bottle neck that is the lower boost pipe. Think thats all what needs saying on this topic.

Ok... so this is the start ive made. Heat shield as described made from 2mm stainless so extremley over kill [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Decided to stick with my large k&n as dont really think a filter that large will be a restriction. Kept it simple, 70mm 45° taking it straight up to the maf. New bracket for the maf and some old hacked up pipe later and they you go.. a very bodged up heatshield.. not sure if i like the looks of it but in the long wrong should see some minor gains with the rest of the work

I think if you painted it red so it looks like part of the chassis it would look better IMO. wouldn't stand out and will look more OEM.

Can't you remove that silicone 90° and get your boost pipes on a straight run? Worth 1hp Smile
If you twist the pipes slightly they should join up with a straight through coupler or maybe a double hump coupler?

Seems top engine mounts going again...
After the baker bm unit died the first time ran a handfull of stock mounts that just never seem to last. Still trying to avoid digging deep to replace it with a vibra so decided to chuck it to the pipe fitter at work.
[Image: 0043969a8d5e8bc7668685967dee5c91.jpg][Image: ad4339989344665df80a5c6a7cf3f417.jpg]
So he started by repairing the arse of the mount. Tig'd up all the cracks and straightened the thread
[Image: e35fe1fec9dc8e8675f37cdc7ec2d5af.jpg][Image: 62b980e86dacbdcdc8ac617d5f65988c.jpg]
He then ground it all back and proceeded to weld 1.5 stainless sheet to the bottom to reinforce it all
[Image: ecc2e45cb16c72848d95f7ed1db2ef9e.jpg][Image: ee7e5eca6aa87eadf630bc9cb46b9efa.jpg][Image: 149f1517da6fad52d5106ac12a0244ce.jpg][Image: 2d9e4203ebc97e8137b43c7b2467e36e.jpg]
Were both a little unsure on what the heats done to the rubber.. the arse did catch light a hand full of times and tried to keep the temp down but the mount ended up swelling with heat. Wouldnt be surprised if the rubbers brittled but now its cooled down it appears to be fine... only way to tell is run it really.

Tbf thats not a bad idea. Top boost pipe current rests on the thermostat housing which i hate!
Keep meaning to get a hardpipe made to run there so could be a good time to make that leap

Couple of minor add ons.. had to re-do the mbc lines again. Had tee'd the boost gauge off the mbc line which i always thought was possible to reduce the amount of lines coming in the car. Seems having not touched the mbc and knowing it was set at 26psi and then adding the gauge inline off the mbc feed and it only reading 14psi there was somthing deffo wrong. So everythings now on its own seperate lines.
Added a festo pnematic silencer exhaust to the exit on the mbc as the hiss was doing my nut in! Certianly works tho! But unsure if its actually causing a restriction as feels hesitant to boost
[Image: 2117ba29bd8e8b96b7fac60b6fbc687b.jpg][Image: b1b368c1db389e6b8778ec81eac84e81.jpg]
Got some prettier rad hosing arrive today too. A tad guttered as its wire reinforced and arrived with a huge kink in it. Contacted the guy on ebay and he's appologised and sending out a new unit. As he dosnt want the old one back thought id have a play and mock it all up.
[Image: 51987f66d90df4c5d390c91528de97ae.jpg][Image: 4683688c60a40dc0905f6ebc7a64cac7.jpg]

So from a distance everything looks ace and spot on.

Once it was cut and on i realised i had messed up as it was touching one of the boost pipes...
HELLO HEAT!

So thats a lesson learnt really. With the new pipe on its way i know not to cut it so short and at least get rid of this kink! But should look spot on..

Small and pants update..
Only just got paid the other day and realised ive neglected a few basics.. service lights just came on, tyres on the front are nearly on the limit, aux belt squealing (if anyones got advice on the aux belt setup without tensioner would greatly be appreciated as kill these belts every 6 months atm) and the filters looking mucky as hell.. so yup ebay shopping again

To those asking why i dont just clean the k&n ive rubbed through it in a patch. The one ive got tho is stupidly cheap. Not listed as a k&n but when it arrives its fully boxed by them and branded by them. Was shown it by a volvo nut job[Image: 1b804619af78a19ff2b9f2ced91b703d.jpg]

Well since the news of making top 40 ive done nothing but paint and clean the slag up [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] typical rattpe cans job again but shes getting there.

Got duffed over by ebay. Ordered the cold air trumpets over two weeks ago but not shown up. Seems several strong worded emails were not enough but angry phone call was. Spose to arrive in 5 working fays but gonna wait till after expo to fit them now as dont want to chip the bay.

Other akwardness. The baker bm mount i fixed just isnt adiquite. Took it down the road and deffo missed the vibrations [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] but seems were ive accidently raised the mount by welding a plate in its reeked havok on the drive shafts so hey ho back to stock mount.

Couple of pics with the bay

You can run a stretch fit belt so wouldn't need tensioners but they do need special tools to fit.

When I had one I had a bracket between the top bolt of the alternator and the alternator itself so undid that, pressed the alternator against the block, fitted then belt and then used a big pry bar to pull it out and tension it before fitting the bracket.

The bracket itself was triangular with a hole at each corner and all the sides were different lengths, I have no idea what it came off but it was perfect to give me a choice of tensioning options.
