Miami Blue is my vote for the colour

Then again my first D turbo was a Miami blue

Firends already nearly done this. his phase 1 sigma chucked a rod the other week so hes been donated a hdi engine. Aggy just so happened to have every part he needed to convert it so its been stripped back to bare shell and rebuilt. Tank, interior loom, axel, phase 3 dash. Everything basically. The only thing not been changed is his s16 seats

Ohhh and its straight to stage 2

Bit bored tonight so decided to make some quick mounts for the front mount to see how it would fit.

Probably the neatest one ive done, and the best intercooler i've had size wise, decent size, and how its been mounted means i will not have to touch the ph1 bumper for it to fit back over the top. Some minor trimming of the slam panel was required. Mounts were made out of a bit of angle iron, and some random steel fence post mounts i had kicking around in the garage.

Will be squeezing a couple of 12" slimline fans between the rad and i.c

Photos are shit as my iphone is in for repair so having to use my work htc

So to keep the thread alive a slight update.

Don't have many pics though I'm afraid!

It still is multicoloured!

Mods which will be completed by pugfest are

Stef rebuilt beam (gti spec) -30mm with bilstein shocks, solid mounts, braided lines and brand new brakes

Fully overhauled front suspension including gaz gold adjustable coilovers.

And that's pretty much it! Apart from doing a few more jobs on the ph1 conversion such as fitting ph1 front arch liners, sorting all the wiring out and mounting the hdi coolant bottle and air box mount to the ph1 slam panel.

Oh yeah it's had a brand new nissens rad and oem lower rad pipe and some slimline fans.

Just haven't had the time recently with work and house move. Will be nice to actually put some miles on it even thought it is multicoloured. Need an MOT as soon as its roadworthy

Can't really see the point in getting it painted until it's got it's new engine and shiny bits

Ok, so for the purposes of pugfest, I've had the early ph1 grill and front bumper painted. I've also refitted the ph3 drivers wing even though it doesn't fit right, is scratched, dented and rusty. But at least it's the right colour!

Should have had bonnet, tailgate and my ph1 rear bumper painted really, but I'm being tight and didn't want to pay for it doing!

MOT tomorrow, needs a tyre swapping and tracking doing. Can't see an issue with it not passing seeing as the majority of mot checked parts are brand new.

Also given it a full valet inside and stitched up the torn seats. Also retrofitted the scan gauge into the ashtray which I'm really pleased with.

Thought I'd give this a quick update, although there is nothing really to update! But at least it shows the project is still alive and I'm still a member of this forum!!

So last time I updated this was Pugfest.

Since then some of the ph1 panels have been swapped for ones in better condition, although a different colour. The ultimate plan is for a wrap hence the need for better condition panels without the need for them being the right colour

Down at James's yard with Dave (HA11's) winter f*ck about

Wearing some 15" Team Dynamics Pro Race 3s I got off Teddy. Really nice looking wheel IMO.

So at the moment it does look a bit LOL but I don't mine it, and nowadays im pretty much always in my XC60 and I love driving the 306 when I get chance.

I then won some brand new 17 inch team dynamics on eBay, for less than the cost of a good refurb on the old wheels. So bought them and slapped some lol-worthy budget rubber on them

This now meant I had plenty of room for activities under the wheels, and as look had it Piggy pops up on here with a set of 302mm C4 VTS brakes. Which were promptly fitted along with good ridge braided lines

Note the Alloygators fitted to the new wheels, which some say may look gash, but believe me after James managed to catch the kerb in Morrison's the same day they were fitted, they have already paid for themselves!!!!

Again, down at James's

So, 2017 is going to see the progression of the engine build.

8v block was stripped and sent to be cleaned up, honed and levelled

Another 2.2 is in the stand, and thanks to James/Darren the head is now off Undamaged after a head stud shit itself

Welding a nut to the top of the head stud with a 99p arc welder

And the 8v block is now painted (photo during) and is ready to be assembled.

So, looking forward the plans are;

Car:

Rear to be lowered 25mm to level out with the front.
Sort paintwork - vinyl wrap
Interior - eventually want to fit a pair of OMP stradas in the front, leave rest of interior stock
Gauges to install in head unit bay (stereo already relocated)
Change heater matrix
Rip 8v motor out

Engine:

Assemble new engine:

8v Hdi block (from 305 build)
Smiley face forged rods (from 305 build)
16v Pistons (from 2.0 16v)
2.2 Head (V35 from a C5)
2.2 16v Injectors (stock nozzles for now)
R70 pump (from 305 build)
Shorter ARP Headstuds
VR Head Gasket
GTI6 Flywheel (From 305 Build)
HDi Box - this will be a stock box for now unless funds allow my future plan to build a hdi box/206 eco box mashup with a LSD
CG 4 paddle XUD spec paddle clutch (from 305 build) this has had the centre changed by CG to a Sachs one I believe to minimise movement on shaft and annoying rattle

Turbo will be a VAG spec GT2260VK which has been converted to run a vacuum actuator. This will be sitting on top of the gearbox
Twin Pass FMIC

Remap to suit using original single plug 8v EDC15 Ecu.

Hoping to get all this done in time for the shows next Summer.

Power - 200+ bhp would be nice
