Gone slightly overboard and now the 6 is high boost

Hi all thought I would finally get a project thread up an running now I have the 6 back and work has calmed down a bit!!! Bought the car in December and was thinking just a rebuild and low boost but went to see Rich walker to pick up some bits and he had a high boost motor complete on the stand looking very lovely so I wanted one!!! As he got busy with all that I started to strip my xsi of crystals, exhaust, cyclones and numerous other bits to complete the standard look I wanted. Went a bit crazy with it all but now have a cracking looking 6 that goes sooooooo fast :-). Will be doing suspension next but unsure of which way to go with it. New T1r x4 with new genuine discs all round with ds2500 pads in- fab stopping power!! All looks very standard with very dull paint "sleeper" look. Will get pictures on asap cheers

I've looked at the graphs between LB and HB and where the power is delivered etc. I'm just not convinced the out lay is worth it.

I may be talking crap but I think a 2.2 engine would be better and try to develop more torque and usable power.

Get some more photos up!

To be fair the T1r are very good on the road but when she is a little more track ready I will get some decent tyres on. After all 70 is as fast as your allowed, right? As for rods I'm not sure if they are cheap but I trust Rich Walker so I have no problem with what's he has built- it's a completely brutal motor just needs a diff an suspension now to finish .:-)

Nice and shiney p

Taking shape

Standard cams

All done

Loving it not long now

Billet wheel is on can't believe how much lighter it is

Inlet manifold is a work of art

Can't believe the welds on this

Old engine gone, air gone gone too ready for the new lump to go in

Big hole

And there she is

Snug fit

Used the magnex off the xsi with a few changes- welds were amazin

Old to new

Boost pipes all finished, helix paddle clutch with Valeo pressure plate

Bit anal about the exhaust being in the middle so with some fettling it's perfect apart from being sooooooo loud

Decat on and this was removed to take any restrictor out from exhaust

The morrettes have gone replaced by the crystals

Putting more on now it's a slow process

Looks far better

It's come a long way since December when the plan was freshen the engine up with new bearings, seals, gaskets etc then go low boost! Very happy on how it is for now. Undecided about suspension either coilovers or billstein b12 kit. Will do bushes, top mounts and drop links too

I'm hoping it will stay that way for quite a while as I only use it on weekends and in the dry

Small updates on the 6- was out for a hoon 2 weekends ago when the heater matrix decided it wanted to let go!! Luckily quite close to home so made it back ok. Turned out the plastic pipes that go into the matrix had split :-(. Anyways I went to Peugeot to get new matrix which they can get but no longer do the pipes that fit into it. So I ordered a second hand one from the bay and also a spoox bypass hose. For now I will do without a heater an matrix so I have removed it all. Can't believe how much it weighs!! Spent today taking out the Clifford alarm while the dash was out and got it all back together. While I was in Peugeot I ordered top mounts suspension arms with new bushes, track rod ends, drop links an ball joints, also have billstein b12 kit here so maybe next weekend I will pull the front off . Hopefully make a huge difference.

What a mess!!

Got pressed plates on now too will get some pictures up when I get some more time

Nice and shiney, everything looks right. Only concerns are the con rods and those God awful tyres.
Please trust what we are saying and get some decent rubber, I had a set around 7-8 years ago and they were dog shit.

Yeah...I duno much(read anything) about high boost 6 setups...
But have heard people using the BE hdi box with more success than the gti6 box. Plus they are cheap right?
And as for rods...again no experience...but anyone has these chinese rods go bang?

T1rs on the other hand...ahhh dood, I missed that! Get some ad08r on them quick! You can get a whole set fot not much more than £225 iirc

You're best off with a diesel box to make use of the power, you'll strip 3rd gear on a 6 box in a matter of weeks.

205 na derv box if you can find one, the uprated diff will fit in

Not sure on the con rods as they were reccomend by Rich Walker when he built the engine so I went with what he advised really. I'm gonna keep the t1r for the road as they don't get a hammering anyway but I will either get the yokos or triple 8s for the track.

Cheers mate it's been a bit of hard work on my side and rather a large wad of cash but it's nearly done. Just gotta finish swapping out the front end sat an Sunday then all that's left is diff and rear beam. Will be getting road legal track tyres when it's ready for track time thou Rofl

Absolutely love that! Big Grin

Don't listen to the nay sayers, i highly doubt you'll have any issues with the rods!

Yeah theres alot better tyres out there than T1r's but it entirely depends on your driving style! I used to swear by them & goodyear eagle F1's Smile

Looks a top quality build and im looking forward to seeing the finished article @ FCS! putting yourself down for front row?

Thanks bud . Everyone has a opinion and I respect that. Being a carpenter I've just used what was offered to me. It's the engine builders experience Iv paid for so will see what happens!! Puts a HOOOOFE smile on my chops when I'm driving it coz it looks like a bag of nails. A proper sleeper is what I wanted an that's what I have. Lots of rich kids round my way that get shown a clean pair of heels most times or they don't get far enough in front to make them smile. Ha ha I don't mind the toyo tyres I don't go mad on the roads but will be on track in the next couple months I hope will see proper rubber on then. See you at FCS .
