what an epic time on track at FCS the car went brilliant
tyres held out well i was expecting to kill them but i believe they will go again as the still have pattern left
[attachment=23634]
as for the Brakes i knew they were low and i havent changed these since ive bought the car, so to be fair they have done well.
but after the 2hrs session they were bad but working.
but when dum dum came over waving his track pass I had to go out again!
once with chris who was promptly feeling Ill after about 5 laps,
once more with james who i think enjoyed himself so much made him regret selling his Rallye and buying a Subaru
after track sesions brakes were heavy vibration under light braking so they were dead
so today has been a day of brake rebuild
off with the old
[attachment=23638]
on with the new!!
out for a road test and they feal like new

Oh and to add
anyone wishing to do a 2 hour on track
i spent
£100 on Vpower and i needed a £20 splash and dash to get home as I hit the Fuel light about 20 miles from home
Total miles for the day including track
170 road miles 140 track miles around 75ish laps

Impressive
£100 at 1.25ppl is 80l and the best part of 18gal
170 motorway miles at 35mpg is the best part of 5gal
That means 13gal on track, not quite single figure MPG but close 10.9mpg lol
My gauge dropped from half a tank to a quarter in the few laps I did.

well id very much like that diff!!
but for the two or three times a year i use the car on track,, i cant justify it.
the car was bought originally as a weekend toy which it suits its job very well as a nearly std car.
it brings smile to my face even though it not the fastest on track
ive been looking at the autumn action day tickets which are broken into 15 min track times im not sure if im keen
i may look at a track day instead

Today is a sad day!!
but its a beginning of a new chapter for the car that should keep it on the road for a year or two more
I hope!
anyway FCS was the last straw for the engine
probably a combination of a few bad choices of mine and add a high ish mileage engine didn't help
poor oil choice for track use
not knowing to say no to freebees
ended in the engine expiring with a heavy rattle after i got home
so tonight i have cleared my drive to make Bianca a nice home for a while so good things can happen
so it started tonight with a visit to the DVLA website

Good times which resulted in a bad time for the head which will now result in a better time for the car in spring

Sad times but onwards and upwards. That new engine is going to look mint in that bay when its all done. Also, my money is on big ends when you finally strip the old one down to have a look

Just says it's got lower compression on one cylinder, but well within specs, I bet if you gave cyl#3 a squirt of WD40 it'd raise a little to the same as the other cylinders, I wouldn't say gasket or ring has failed or anything like that...
After re-listening it sounds like a possible spun bearing or similar.

suns out trip to the tip to dump some rubbish and it would be roude not to buy a new tool!
what a cracking bit of kit no more bent lifting points or using crap chains
anyway so today was a big day for Bianca she lost her heart!
not atall bad on my own i dont think
the new load leaveler worked real well in canting the engine around the gearbox mount before lifting it clear
once the bay was clear i could see some bits on the legs that needed sorting but after a poke and a scrape its all surface and treatable very easy with a sanding disc and some paint
which is Good news
and a small section under the ABS pump
Gear box mount is in excellent condition too
while i was in there i cut out the last of the Aircon pipework behind the engine now im just left with the two matrix stubs at the bulkhead which i can live with
ive got some more metal to clean in the electrolisis tank before i pait them so have started that off too
so in all today has been a very productive day
there are a few things i still need to get but we will start on the paint tomorrow

ripping back the paint to get to the rusty bits
quick coat of Kurust followed by a coat of Zinc primer then another primer then the top coat should keep the evil brown stuff at bay for a while
i was fealing smug a few days ago things were going too well!
well yeterday i lost a fight with a grinder fitted with a twisted wire wheel !
the thing kicked on the work it then lunched the tool back at me tangling in my tee shirt
to be honest i think i was very lucky to get away so light!
be careful out there with power-tools guys they can bite
