Yes the project will be based around a microwave transformer so go look for a busted microwave and some 25-35MM cable

This really sounds like a recipe for the fire brigade (and possibly anti terror police) turning up at your house. Microwave transformers and heavy duty cable coupled with the moody looking wiring in the first photo.
