The 206...
Theres a noise which as best I can is described as somewhere between when the heater fan is dying quietly, the alternator whine through your speakers and the wind through a crack ina window..
Its not the speakers or heater fan by the way.
Only when cold, matches revs not speed.
Once warm or driven 10min, it goes.
Any ideas?
Coming from deep behind dash clock/bulkhead it seems

May be interference from the alternator tbh, why do you say its not? It'll be under a lot more load trying to refill the battery after a cold start.

Yeah makes no odds if its in gear or not.
I cant imagine its alternator interference...esp as radio isnt powered when it happens.
Dont think its turbo either as when turbo does kick in, turbo noise overpowers/overlaps it.
Its loudest from idle to 1200rpm

Hmmm. This is what Im thinking.
Sorted the elbow gasket, but Im 90% sure that the metal elbow to plastic boost piece is leaking a little.
Hope to be fixed by fmic soon!! Haha. Still goes like stink. Meh

ours makes one hell of a rackette when cold all from the aux drive belt system....horrible noise suggesting complete failure of a bearing in that system....the belt flaps about also.......but if belt is removed,.the engine is sweet......
to illuminate this as a cause, remove the belt temporarily and see ( hear) if the noise in question disappears....to rule the aux belt system from the list of possible causes......i assume its not clutch/g/box related?
