Leaking injector
#1
Got an injector leaking on a 1.9 nad what'd it likely to be the injector or the seal?

How hard are they to change ?

Could be the union on the top, body of the injector or the copper seal.

Got a picture?

I'd probably say it the body, take it out, clamp put in the vice 27mm(?) spanner and nip it up. I've had it before. Fresh fire seal & copper seal and drash on.

Will get a picture in a bit but looks like its covered from fairly near the top

How much of a pain are they to get off and what size?

Possibly the leak of pipe, they'll make a mess with only the smallest hole, there also a 5 minute job to replace, worth checking the easy bits first.

have you got the alloy inlet? have to remove that and get at them.

You'll need an injector socket I don't remember the size, sorry. Got in my head its 27mm but dont quote me on that.

Edit: ConorTRG has a good point. Tongue

Worth checking leak offs first mind as said. Diesel leaks can go everywhere from the tiniest hole

And those sockets are about £5/6 on ebay

I would clean off the area with some brake cleaner or similar. Run the engine and watch!

That or clean it off and replace the leak off for 50p and see if it stops it!

Right had a look at it and its not the leak off pipe looks to be coming out of the injector where the line joins it

The nuts tight, is there a seal inside there that needs replacing?

Worth undoing that nut and lifting the line to see what the sealing surfaces are like

Won't be able to whip that off until the morning....

Do you know if there's a seal under that part that I could replace ? Never had a diesel injector off

Nope. Its like a brake pipe flange, a male on the pipe and a female on the injector.
Possible not seated right or bent or something

Not been off recently...odd for it to just start to leak there

Don't know why it's started I haven't touched them since I've had the car not even been near them

Is it possible undoing and reseating it could stop it leaking?

I'm going to put my bets on leakoff lines - those ones will be seriously hard and brittle.

You'll have just aired up the system, pump the primer bulb, turn over the engine until fuel squirts out the union, tighten up and start...

All the pipes seem alright Ruan theres no fuel leaking from them (assuming these are the rubber lines between injectors) its actually forcing diesel up through the top of the union

Got a picture of the surfaces and to me they look alright

Maybe the injector can't pass the fuel through?

They should be a bit clearer

The line feels smooth all round

Video of what it's doing looks like line or injector to me, there isn't supposed to be a seal in the union is there?
