Not updated this in awhile. Inlet is now bolted on with a fresh gasket, fuel rail has been welded up as there was a slight weap. The charger mounting has been painted and i started the car for the first time on the new inlet with great success and the icv relocation seems to be working well. I picked up my charger plates last week and made up a inlet pipe to the filter. Ive cut the outlet plate ready for the elbow to be welded to it.
Also performance french car have release the front cover of the issue the car will be in. Im interest to read it as im sure its full of inaccuracy. Never the let abit of a mile stone for me and the car. Stef

Good effort mate!
You wanna be buying those pistons off pip on drivers and maxing the charger out
15-09-2014, 07:15 PM
Go monster! But still with oem pistons and rods?

Completely agree to be honest, if I was to do an engine for mine I'd stick to around 10:1 Cr. Its all about the mapping
It's just that your charger in theory should be good for 400 horses? Not sure hi comp would stand that much.....
15-09-2014, 08:37 PM
i done some theoretical calculations with boost and with a stock 6 bottom pulley and the stock 3" pulley it will give 20psi they make down to 1.9" pulleys for gen 3 m90's. Im having to use a 98mm crank pulley just to slow it down to make near 10psi.

Hopefully your alternator will cope with the lower revs ok

(16-09-2014, 06:03 AM)allanallen Wrote: Hopefully your alternator will cope with the lower revs ok i have thought about this too, im only dropping 30mm off the crank pulley hopefully it will be ok, if i do run into issues ill get a bigger alternator pulley made. I havent had much time on the car over the last week, ive got the car running well on the new inlet but i still have my noise that ive been trying to find. I narrowed it down to the cambelt area. So i wipped the belt off and i believed the water pump was at fault so ive replaced it. ive had the outlet welded up for the charger got it fitted to the car seems to sit well and not cause any issues. The loom from the ecu has been annoying me for some time so i thought this was the ideal time to do something about it, i ordered a fair few meter of some nylon sleeve to go over the wires. Stef

little progress over the last few days, ive now tacked up my boost pipe from the charger to the intercooler, ive now given it to my friend to tig up along with the right hand side pipe work.
ive made a start on the charger rebuild starting with the snout, all the eaton snouts are the same with regards to snout bearings and snout seal. i will be moving on to the rotor bearings and seals, im still waiting on my reduced crank pulley then it will be ready for its first start! Stef

ooooooo your soo masculine when you talk like that!
few days since i updated this, my new shinny custom pulley turned up for the crank. Roughly 30mm smaller than the stock pulley.
Ive been having nothing but issues with the modified fuel rail so i made the decision to change it, i rang jenvey (not my proudest moment) and after a chat they had a rail on the shelf that would be a direct fitment for the inlet. So now ive had to remove the inlet and take that and the new rail to my friend to have some mountings made. But hats of to jenvey i ordered it at 4pm i had it the next morning. I had the boost pipes tigged up and got them fitted to the car. While the inlet is away ive fitted a belt to the engine and charger, im hoping the belt wont slip now that i have a decent tensioner. I refitted the triplets and once the rail is done it should be a fully running car once again with boost. Stef

ive advanced with the car quite well in the last few days. I have sorted my noise from the crank pulley area but still have no idea what it was or how i fixed it as it just stopped.
This was the noise i was chasing, even with no belt covers and no aux belt. Ive now got the car running with the charger but after a good 10mins of running i had some noises coming from the charger which i wasnt happy with so i tore the charger down and found i had a slight tolerance issue with on of the rotors. But here is the first run of the engine and charger ignore the tapping thats a dry tappet. I fixed the issue with the rotor and decided it would be wise to bench test it before fitting it so i hooked it up to the piller drill seemed to work well This is the finished look ive still got a few little bits to perfect and test. ive only driven it around the yard and saw 6psi at 1500rpm i will be doing a test drive tomorrow with it.
