Well It's been quite a while since I've been on (well noticeably anyway!). Had a massively busy couple of months settling into my new job etc
Some of you may know that Phil (4WayDiablo) is the lucky new owner of my old Dt warhorse. Hope he's still going strong!

A few will know I've been having increasingly naughty thoughts about petrol... and have for a long time wanted a '6.....
weeeelllll........
These are the pics from the advert (some may recognise from the '6 forum)
 ![[Image: 004.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/The%20Gti6/004.jpg) ![[Image: 009.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/The%20Gti6/009.jpg) ![[Image: 007.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/The%20Gti6/007.jpg) ![[Image: 006.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/The%20Gti6/006.jpg) ![[Image: 019.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/The%20Gti6/019.jpg)
There are bits of the bodywork that do need attention; a few dings and scratches here and there that i want to sort out, but overall I'm absolutely over the moon!

Fully Phase3, 95k, cambelt done at 89K, Pug service history up to 74k, all receipts for parts and work done kept since; every single bit of electrics still works, brembo discs and mintex pads (stops incredibly well), lowered on spax springs i think, with 50profile proxes, mint interior, no bolster wear. Its SO quiet when driving sensibly, and going for it, the noise is POOOOOOORN
I gave it a clean this weekend and took some more pics. I did go a bit overboard with the pics, so will try to be sensible and not crash anyones computers! EDIT: Here's the for sale write-up from the '6 forum:

The car in general, drives superbly, is very smooth, comfortable and is mechanically excellent.

I have probably missed alot of but feel free to ask any questions will be happy to answer.

For me its very hard to price and i am looking for £2500 and will consider any offers.

THe list of modifications I am considering is as follows:
1. Black masks (possibly, still thinking about it)
2. Stut brace (waiting to go on)
3. Induction kit (waiting to go on)
4. Paint calipers (undecided what colour to go yet; cherry red or 106 gti sunburst yellow?)
5. Yoko Parada Spec 2s all round
6. Refurb Cyclones... undecided what colour, but most likely shadow chrome or something similar...
7. decat + decent exhaust (nothing loud when pottering about, I cant be doing with being deaftened on my commute)
8. coilovers & gas shockers
9. debating wether or not to get a couple of annoying dints pulled out and get it resprayed... I doubt this will be anytime soon, especially with the price of 99RON these days!!!
10. debating whether to get cams, or save for low-blow sc... again, doubt it'll happen anytime soon, but RichW promised me a ride his his 460bhp high boost at some point in the next 2 weeks, and i doubt i'll be able to keep my mitts out of my overdraft after that haha
BTW, I don't know if I've posted it up before, but see the 1st post for the 'for sale' spec and link
01/02/2011:

Updatey tiiiime!

Thing has cost me a fortune this month.

I wasn't happy with the previous owner putting halfrauds oil and boggo plugs in the car, and the stock rad was leaky at the bottom elbow, so I organised for Lynx Engineering (who are conveniently a stones-throw from my house to do a full service and change the rad for a shiny new nissens.

I also asked them to look over the car for me and give me the inevitable thesis of problems needing fixing.

In short the 'problems list' is:

1. Brake discs heat cracked a bit

Solution: Needs new discs and pads (THinking aboout EBC Ultimax discs, can anyone comment/reccomend these? Also reccomend me a good set of pads)

2. Bake lines a bit shabby; will need doing this year

Solution: Braided mo-fooooo Thanks mainly to Ghaz, who operates in rev-bands I can only dream of for now, I am pretty sold on Hel lines, which apparently come with appropriate brackets to mount the lines on the calipers...

3. FECKING REAR BEAM ARRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! No nice way about this, It'll most likely cost me a fortune, but nevermind, I'll bite the bullet and do it over summer probably.

4. O/S/F TR1 has a screw in it. Losing 20psi daily :S

Solution: Forced with much fighting to get Parada Spec2s. Ohhhhh un BEARABLE
5. FECKING CAMBELT!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH x2! :S This was bad, i asked Nick at Lynx to investigate a noise near the front of the engine which sounded a little like the exhaust blowing (but at the front of the engine; IMPOSSIBLE I hear you shout...)

After little ado (he was actually spookily quick at doing this) the aux belt and cambelt cover were of and OOHHH SHIIIIIIIIIT. Cambelt was lose and slapping on the cover when running.

They also caught the crankpulley had gone, so didnt bend valves when tightening the existing belt up so I could limp to wok for a week before they did a camblet change.

So in short, a very expensive month Jan has been.

MATCH SUMMARY REPORT:

1. New Nissens Rad with antifreeze
2. Full service with Millers Fully synth 10w 40 oil
3. NGK Iridiumzzzz & OEM Filters all round
4. new Lightened Lynx Crank Pulley & all tensioners
5. New Cambelt
6. very broken bank account/owner

TO-DO list for the next 6months is:

1. Braided Brake lines
2. NEw discs n pads
3. Sort out rear beam
4. Fit induction kit
5. fit strut brace
6. fit de-cat pipe (ebay bargain at £35 posted)
7. 2x more parada spec2s for the fronts, and move fronts to rears

If it didn't look so good when polished, and go so well, I'd have kicked it many many times and sold it. maybe not in that order.

10/02/2011:

Small update... the cat decided to give up the ghost on Monday; the weld between the pipe and the back of the cat cracked 3/4 of the way round. Pops n bangs, OH YES but it did sound a little like how I imagine the end of the world to sound like... so I got it in with Lynx pronto to pop a replacement part on
sounds lovely now, a little more raspy but rather nice all things said

25/03/2011:

Righto, Update time

Firstly in other news, Iâ??ve finally got a flat with my girlfriend of 3years. Its awesome

And massively convenient for me; my commute is still epic, but 30miles round trip instead of 60; aaand I get to use the womans 307 hdi to get to work during the week, meaning the â??6 is the weekend car BOOMtastic
Scroll back slightly, the list of things done since end of January are as follows:

1.	New Lambda sensor

2.	Diagnostics to check sensor was all working and not throwing any faults

3.	Bought Xsara VTS rear beam; Lynx discovered it was as shagged as mine, so its been refurbed with new bearings and seals

4.	Braided brake lines all round

5.	New handbrake cable after I broke it in a rage because I went through a puddle hiding the BIGGEST pothole known to man. BAD times

6.	Fitting Foobyâ??s new s/s sports exhaust system, because he made the rookie error of having it delivered to my house, and hasnâ??t had the stones to fit it to his car yet haha
It is currently at Lynx having points 3-6 done as I type, and whilst they have it, they are looking into a dodgy idle it seems to have developed. Sounds a little like its running on 3 when cold; so coil packs are being changed, and possibly spark plugs to go with that.

The long term todo/wish list is as follows:

1.	Sort out wheel wobble (its either cyclones not being balanced correctly, wheel hub shagged, or looseness in the suspension components.

2.	Buy & fit lower strut brace

3.	Solid rear beam mounts

4.	Rose-jointed droplinks (if I can source them, otherwise metal ones from the Citroen ZX)

5.	Fit induction kit I have already lying about.

6.	Uprate wishbone bushes & do bottom balljoints.

7.	New brake discs all round (possibly pads too, but the 1144s are still pretty meaty )

8.	Save for clutch to be done (the pedal is ridiculously stiff and has already been replaced once in the last 6months, I have it on fairly good authority it needs doing soon!

9.	Long-long-term plans are to fit cams & remap it. I want to keep the engines character, btu get a bit more power over standard. Around 200bhp would do me fine. I MIGHT fit bodies, but thatâ??s just an idea currently; I like the idea of keeping it pretty stock with a bit of fettling, so it just ends up being easier to service/less temperemental etc.

10.	I may get the bodywork touched up properly before camming, but still thinking about it. It has a couple of annoying dings in it which I really want to get sorted, and Lynx can do that. Meh, weâ??ll see!

Well that just about does it for now; no pics in this update sadly; the car is still in the air at Lynx having small amounts of awesomeness added to it
I will be going to Castle Coombe on 9th April; hopefully with Club306, as there was nowhere near enough interest on this forum for a stand Pics will no doubt follow; its always an awesome day out

28/03/2011:

Ok I'm having serious second thoughts about the exhaust; its SO loud I arrived at work with a headache for the first time since I had my dt with the exhaust on! And I suspect even that was significantly quieter...

I just wish there was an exhaust with a decent compromise; I want near standard levels of quiet when being sensible, and disgusting quantities of noise when hooting it!

Oooookay, so some of you will know Fooby and myself went on an epic roadtrip down to Cornwall to see Ruan, James (Cromptons) and Darren, beginning on Thursday night and ending Monday night.
My exhaust was split to buggery before we left, so they heard me coming from Tavistock (best mod on my car at the moment is the pair of earplugs swinging from my rear view mirror lols)

Much time was spent cleaning cars, drinking lots of alcohol and gratuitously smashing the limiter
Ruan and myself gave my car a full going over; (redneck wash n wax snowfoam, autoglym shampoo, dry, clay, rinse, srp, hd wax, megs tyre gel)

The results are below ![[Image: Cornwall1.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Cornwall1.jpg) ![[Image: Cornwall5.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Cornwall5.jpg) ![[Image: Cornwall6.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Cornwall6.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis1.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis1.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis2.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis2.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis4.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis4.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis5.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis5.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis6.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis6.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis7.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis7.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis8.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis8.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis10.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis10.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis11.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis11.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis12.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis12.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis13.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis13.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis14.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis14.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis16.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis16.jpg) ![[Image: Pendennis17.jpg]](http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Dozer_66/Pendennis17.jpg)
For full details of the weekend, please see the 'Cornwall Road Trip 2011' Thread I will be shortly making (work permitting lol)

Cheers Ruan Darren, James & Fooby for an epic weekend. I've just got to come to terms with the fuel bill now

as always, comments welcome

COPIED & PASTED FROM "Scott Fooby & Ed Go for a Drive"
Actually, Fooby just spent most of the time in my passenger seat, making faces similar to those on the new lynx adverts during long periods of heroic driving
Basically we popped down to see Scott, who was in Bognor Regis for the weekend with the missus. Then proceeded to commandeer him for a pint, followed (after a resonable time!) by a 'gentle' drive past Goodwood and up to Duncton, Graffham, Petworth and back to Duncton. Parked up in the carpark overlooking Seaford College for some pics. Then ended up by the road-side encouraging ever more exotic machinery to give it hell down the hill!

All in all, a pretty good (if sliiiiightly expensive!!) way of spending Sunday!

Good to see both Scott & Foobs, and look forward to more V6 times on the way to Cornwall inthe near future (unless you're both being ghay with work committments!)

Anyway, enough, PICS!

		Soo, not many updates for a little while, not much has changed really;
I Fitted an undisclosed modification to the inlet manifold along with a phat cone, and after much f*ck-on and swearing.... It sounds PORNO :p

I had a proper game fitting it though; inlet manifold off, and me being a tool, I thought I'd need to take the fuel rail out. Un bolted it, decided after some gentle persuasion that I didn't want to accidentally break anything, so gave up. Managed to sort everythign without tkaing the injectors/fuel rail out anyway, but forgot to do them up. Cue much swearing when the thing wouldn't idle, and i could smell fuel HEAVILY. Bolted the fuel rail back down, and managed to nick 2 o-rings badly on the injectors, causeing still more precious 99-ron to piss down the front of my engine bay. After frantic calls to motor factors, I dispatched woman to go get them, and fixed it all up. until I realised I'd not put a plug on properly on the injector. Miss-fire and down on power I was shitting it, but then saw the unplugged injector, and since then *touches wood* all has been epic!

I also just got a set of 4300k hids, which are a nice upgrade but not too obviously wrong for the car which is nice.

Being french, it's not without its problems; an abs sensor has just decided to give up the ghost which is a pain, but it could be worse I spose!

I alo went down west-country, and popped into the veritable gold-mine that is Trago Mills Here I found a DIABLO RED aerial! Spotting immediately the scope for winding Fooby up, I bought it and fitted it I'm still a little in 2minds about it, but it's staying for the time-being as my old aerial never worked properly cause some tool had screwed the thread into the aerial so much it was hanging onto the car by barely a thread...

After coming back from Devon, I gave the car a quick clean. Too bright for any wax/polish, but a quick shampoo never went amiss :p and ANY excuse to sniff megs tyre gel
The pics are on my photobucket, I cba to post them all up, especially with the ones below! :p

I have come to a decision regarding the car's immediate future; I'm going to take it off the road to spend a silly quantity of money on refreshing every bush on the car.

I'm also planning a nice set of KW V2's, and a 2nd set of alloys for track use D Looking forward to it already!!!

By chance as it turns out, my uncle called me up the other day to say my 1st car (I was the 3rd owner, sold it to my dad who sold it to an employee of his who sold it back to him who sold it to my uncle!) had spectacularly failed its mot and I could have it for nothing! Considering it's a 106 1.5nad and to my trained eye all it needs is the rear drums sorting out as well as a new rad and wheel bearing, It'd be rude not to, so I've now got that sat on my gran's drive fr the timebeing until I can spare some time to take a look at it.

So It's all coming together rather well; I'll be taking the '6 off the road when my renewale is due in November, and running round in the 106 doing silly mpg whilst saving for shiny go-faster bits for the 6 DD

Pics of the 106 to follow when I eventually start work on it!

Anyway, the main premise to this update is the epic clean/detail I did on the exterior of the car today
It's goodwood Revival this weekend, and my parents got me and the woman tickets for Sunday, so I used the excuse to spend around 5hours cleaning the car.

1.Pressure Washed
2.Dried with leather chammy
3.Towel-dried alloys& tyres
4. Srp'd any light scratches. then got bored, as there were so many fecking stone-chips/gravel-rash on the front end, so gave up
5. Megs Liquid Carnuba Wax (cant for the life of me remember which one, but it's in a red bottle, and it smells of bananas (ie. AMAZING)
6. Megs tyre gel
7. Autoglym window polish inside & out

didn't have time and the weather was a bit iffy to start with so I skipped claying it, but managed to get some srp on some scratches that I'd picked up.

Anyway, enough waffle, pics below!

Stay tuned for many more sexy photos of the 106 :p Got a BARGAIN pattern rad, I reckon only a few thousand miles on it for £15 at the scrappers today for it. REsult :p

		UPDATE!
Only a small one; I fitted my GE Quickshifter. Literally the easiest mod I've ever done to the car took me 20mins!

 For anyone wondering how to do it;

 1. Its best to get at the linkage from behind the battery; you can pull it directly up and off the gearbox spigot far easlier than going in next to the vac pump.
 2. Pop the linkage off, get hold of some solvent-based degreasant and a couple of old rags and clean the spigot up. If it's oily its far more likely to slip!
 3. Put quickshifter over the spigot and wedge as low as possible
 4. Tighten the pinch-bolt to buggery!!
 5. Apply liberal amount of loctite to area around spigot where quickshift is pinched.

 Wait to dry then enjoy!
Its a bloody great mod tbh; took a little getting used to but now its just great; I couldnt go back to a normal throw now!
Makes me wonder why they gave the box such a long throw to start with!

 Anyway, simple mod, great results!

 [/update]

		I miss my gti
It's due to go into locked storage very shortly for the duration of winter, and until I can drag it out probably around March next year.

The winter plans have changed slightly, but I'm basically hoping to do as much as possible of the following:

1. Respray/touch-up of the stonechips, slight dink on the ns Rear quarter, and general spruce

2. Fully rebush all suspension (new topmounts, powerflex wishbone bushes, arb bushes, engine mounts, rear beam mounts)

3. *possibly* adjustable camber top-mounts. This will probably be if i ahve any change!! lol

4. KW V1's. I've decided unless I go down the 'strip & track-prep' route, I'm probably not going to need more than these, so that frees up some cash for the other bits!

5. Full service, inc. plugs, oils etc.

6. 2 new Spec2s, maybe 4 depending on whether I can use the fronts on the rear for a bit longer!!

7. Re-furb the clones. I'm thinking a similar colour to how Jimmy's were(?) IIRC it was ford graphite grey?? Basically a slightly darker shade than standard.

8. Anthracite-masked crystals.

In reality, I'll probably only get a few of these done, as it's all money permitting, and I've just bought a house with the missus so all my money's going towards that for now Might be a while before I'm back on-cam

I keep forgetting to take pics of the Nad-wagon; this is the only picture; the rage-face of a man with no power;

Thanks for all the nice comments I do love this car. Getting mega-withdrawl from it now it's off the road for some winter lovin.

@ Fozz: Basically some pikey mu-fcuker in Falmouth decided to kick it off. So i gaffer taped it back on and it peeled off on the motorway. So my mate took a photo. what you're seeing in the window is the upside-down front of the wingmirror! I'll try n dig out the photo after we taped it back on. Literally you couldnt see the plastic for parcel tape. It was loltastic

@ Dum; I think it may be a bit lighter than Fooby's, but not sure. Thats one of the things I really like about Diablo; it changes colour depending on what light it's in. It looks very red in the sun, and the pearlescence really comes through then, but it goes a deep red out of sunlight. Either way, I love it

Well Fooby came over last night so he's more local to his office in Reading today.
We may have slightly annoyed the neighbours by starting the '6's up to give them a quick run up to temp.

We maybe did get slightly carried away though....

you do know starting your car up and leaving it to idle trying to warm it up does damage to the engine. It needs to be driven if you want to keep it tip top. Also the battery will be killed over winter if left. your best bet is to find somewhere dry, take the battery out and leave the handbrake off.

Yeah, dw I realise that; I start it up, and after about 20secs bring the revs to about 2k, then keep it rising and falling between 2-3k for about 5mins, then 2-3.5k until the oil temp is half-way to 90, then 2-4k until its at 90, then keep it at 4k for a bit, few revs, then back to 2k for a bit, then down to idle for 30secs, then off.

At idle there's no oil pressure, so yes it will damage the car long-term, and also leaving it it idling for long periods of time will cause bore-glazing. not good at all either.

And yes, things are in motion to have the car in a dry environment under a car cover, on bricks with the handbrake off. Just need to sort the details out and get the car transporter for a weekend from work!

		What a stressful day today!
So we moved mine & foobs' gti's off my grans drive finally (she was getting a bit fed up with both of them sat there looking sorry for themselves!!)

Today was garnished liberally with fail. It all started as follows:

I was supposed to be borrowing a car transporter trailer off work, so got my dad to meet me there (i dont have a trailer license, or a vehicle with a towbar.... or enough power to pull yer mums pants down....but thats another story...)

So it turned out after much fuckery that some bell-cheese from work had taken the key for the car-transporter trailer lock home with them for the Christmas break. So we had to make do with another trailer with much steeper ramps.... stay tuned for more fail...

So finally got over to my grans, started the cars to get em up to temp; opened the bonnet of mine, and a fecking live mouse drops out from inside the bonnet lining! Bastard thing. I sincerely hope he's not been at the electrics; THAT could be tragic...

After much trying to get the '6 onto the trailer on the flat (accompanied with yet more failing), we ended up parkingthe trailer at the bottom of a sharp slope and reversing the car on. literally JUST worked. I will post pics tomorrow, but basically there was about an inch between the trailer headboard and the rear bumper. and the front was poking over theback of the trailer. Shitting a brick doesn't come close to how i felt in the passenger seat on the way to the winter hideout (also known as the batcave).

The journey down the motorway was not without a few 'moments'; a gust of wind caught it side on and it all started weaving.. got it back under control, but its f*cked my rear bumper
Getting the car off the trailer was ridiculously easy compared to getting it on! And it's now sat in it's new home for the next few months whilst I procure manymany shiny bits for it prior to it coming back on the road for summer

Lots of fail. LOL at the mouse, i know mice like to sit in the engine bay an chew, thats why my cars have no bonnet lining as thats a nice place to live clearly.
Pics needed
Also a guy that bought my old Dtub had a tiny trailer not for cars really, could open the doors when on, had to climb out the window. Also i removed the rear bumper for him for the same reason yours was damaged.

Hope its Happy in its holiday home
