I got 7 years no claims but still will drive a 306 for I firmly believe in living within my means. Changed from a 3 door to an estate purely for family and yea I miss the xud but the hdi is so much more refined

Don't really see how you guys still have insurance problems with that much NCB?
I'm on 5 NCB, and can insure the majority of cars I've looked at (most newer, faster and better specced) for the same as what I pay for the HDi (£320) give or take £50, which over a year isn't much.

I have run a quote through confused.com, so I know roughly what to expect. Will be ringing round a few companies to get some more accurate prices, but I wasn't really after insurance advice.

True but tom mentioned insurance issues..anyway blame tom lol
If the focus is std and you have good ncb try my broker Woodbury on 01934 742550, ask for Ian and say Chris Reynolds suggested you get a quote from him, I'm not promising the cheapest deal in the world for you but he's cheap for me. They are a broker to 50 underwriters, I have free curtousy car, windcscreen and legal cover etc

It is standard at the moment, but even though I said to this missus that this one is likely to STAY standard....let's be honest, it may well end up having some kind of "personalisation" at some point.
But yeah, thanks for that mate, might give him a bell.

If you do end up selling this the mrs might be interested. Her 205 is a little ropey around the edges and not really big enough for little one. Just have to convince her.
On a break from 306oc for personal reasons. If anyone needs or wants me most of you have my number and or facebook messenger
Thanks for the good times guys n gals. I might be back. Who knows.

Duno if done deal yet wingnutz...but just a few points to consider from my experience of them:
1) ST170 isnt that powerful, ESPECIALLY considering...
2) terrible fuel consumption!
3) they DO rust, be very cautious
4) they can be had for very cheap. £500 gets you one if you shop n haggle
On plus side, handling is epic and the gearbox is a joy

I started with the insurance lol. Just my personal experience I decide I want a change so do and then end up going back a few months later to 306's lol. On my 7th now. I know everyone is different but a few members on here first springs to mind is dum who have done the same and ended up back at 306's.

I had a Focus for a very short while bud. Mine was the TDCi Sport model which had some nice factory extras like leather, 17s, lower suspension, sports bumper/grille. Ultimately they are very good cars, but not that interesting. The seating position is like driving a van, gear lever on the floor type thing, hated it. Better than a 306? Yes, definitely, but not anywhere near as fun to drive nor as interesting!
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Aha, I was hoping you might comment car, I recalled you had a focus for a while. As I've said above, if I hadn't driven it so far, I probably wouldn't have been interested, as personally I found it an absolute hoot to drive, and it wasn't very well when I did! I agree with the seating position though, I did find myself looking forward to getting back in the 306, but that (and the lack of boost) was the only thing I didn't really like about it. I also liked the rarity value, as you don't see many st170s in estate form, and ive wanted an estate for some time, so it's ticking another box there. Oh, and the missus likes it.

I was thinking about it, but if someone stumps up the cash before FCS, then we'll just have to hide the focus up the back of the stand somewhere. can't afford to get the focus without selling the dt unfortunately. And thanks, it is quite nice actually.

So yeah, the DT is going. Finally found someone local who was very interested, so I'm dropping the old girl off to him tomorrow night. Then Saturday morning I'm picking up my new hdi estate, the "euro'd" one from my friend. Might not be to everyone's taste, but it's an estate, will be better for work, and is cheaper to run than my dt or the focus.
At least I'll still have a French car on the stand at FCS though.

Yeah, just a bit, although could be for the best anyway, would have cost more to tax and insure the focus, and it would have cost more to buy as well.
It's this estate though - http://www.306oc.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=23196
I'm not paying that price though.

You're just a trend setter mate! Lol. It's a standard (I'm gonna assume it's eyc) silver, but he had 2 coats of blue pearl put over the top, so in some lights it kinda looks like manstain.

Wheel fell off after pikeys tried to steal the wheels, only left 2 bolts in it, and it came off almost as he got to the mot centre. Not entirely sure what I'll do about it, might just bend the wing back to roughly the right shape.
