Thanks I didn't use new bearings I found a drum axel that was mint so I pressed the tubes out and put them in my disc arms bit of work but makes a good axel and used my torsion bars and arb them just used new seals at the ends and a shit load of grease and cooper slip

She'll blow mate
Have you got to do much in the engine bay? Painting, etc? All coming on though. Axle is looking nice. Did you not unseal the boot though?? Been a while since I put much on here a few things have happend
Had to mock my engine back together so I can start on my manifold so I know were the gear linkages go bloody things so I started collecting exhaust bits and got to work with the plasma cutter and the welder Made it breath a bit bigger as the t2 manifold hole is a bit small Then I made a mid steel plate same size welded that on with dismiler rods so I can mig the 90 on nice and proper After this I made up all the rest of the system wasn't to bad bit of a pain with the pipe coming out the back of the head got a bit technical with the broom stick to hold the turbo while mocking up Then removed engine again so I can make up all the mounts for the gearbox and turbo Now time to take it all apart and put me rods in as we are doing jimbos HDi to xud conversion next week then things will start going together not always coming apart ?

Good progress there, not far off
Have you got the access to get at the inlet manifold studs there? Might be the angle, looks like it'll be close!
Looks fapping awesome though, how bigs that pipe looks monstrous!
Doesnt even own a 306.

Mine didn't have studs got bolts as standard so should be ok apart from my xantia manifold bloody close to master cylinder the pipe coming out is 2.5 then drops down to 2 to make a funnel sort of thing and gives me more room for the bolts on the turbo and the boost can

Ah right on, would really recommend studs if you can get some, way less lethal than those bloody bolts... Cant you adjust the gearbox mount for that to pull it over? Or something along those lines

This is epic, just read the whole lot and considering I could hop to your house I'm going to have to have a look at this for some inspiration.
Why didn't I become a mechanic?? :/ Oh well I'll just have to pay you to do it all haha

Small update managed to sort out my oil line with some nice aero quick fittings and some hellish braided hose looks pretty good . And I have pulled every thing I had on the engine for mocking up back of and striped back to block and managed to get my rods in at the weekend so she will finally be going back together this's week
Side by side shot of HDi vs normal

Well went over to mike's last night, as I haven't seen his setup before. Quiet surprising what he has in his little man caves.
The 306 is starting to get buried now but the shiny pile is growing so shouldn't be too long before it get uncovered and back under the hammer. Crack on Mike! Only 10 weeks to go to FCS!

Good stuff :-) Did you heat the cast before welding it? Quite interested in the dissimilar rod details if you have any?

No didn't heat the cast the rods will weld almost anything together apart from alloy but any type on steel and the weld comes out like chrome really good things you can weld cast with a mig but it just sticks on the top it does not penetrate into it very well the the rods are a better option pm me if ya want any other info
