thanks to chris i now have a lightened flywheel

and the guy i bought the pulley/pas bracket from has come through and posted me a second set of Pulleys and PAS relocation bracket after the first set got lost in the post

but now i have a decision to make!

i want to fit the fly and pulley to the spare engine im building, so i may strip this again and send the crank /fly/pulley off to be ballanced together

the PAS relocation bracket can be fitted to the new engine later so for now its going on the engine in the car so i can sack off the Aircon pump and pipework

Personally, I would balance it. 7000 - 8000rpm is a fair amount of revs if things are out of balance, worth doing IMO.

One thing to note though, don't go too light on the whole rotating assembly. I did, and had the world of problems snapping oil pump chains and having weird misfires (ecu struggling to calculate crank acceleration / lag times).

the car will be on the road but as yet i dont know with which engine

the main reason for doing this it to sack off the AC pump and a side effect is to easily get to the oil filter from below for servicing

belt used is a 6PK1103 maybe a slightly longer one would be better as the tensioner is tight

something was bugging me!
the fact the PAS pump didn't look square not good enough for me
so been back out and removed it

and have work out there is play on the inner mounts
these are pressed into the sump look like split tubes



so i have pressed these out and inserted a set of top hat inserts like the set on the outer mounts
these have taken away all the play
and now i can see how the mount is suppose to work!

the mount against the pulley is fixed and the mount on the back floats along the bolt shafts then the pump then bolts to the mount

simple!
so you need an extra pair of the top hat inserts if fitting this kit which is not included

I'm all happy now its looks a lot squarer to the belt and other pulleys

PAS bracket bolts an alloy crank pulley delivered were £110
6pk1103 belt and these extra tophat spacers would be extra

ouch. look good on the new shiney engine though

defo needs to be 100% square as I found doing exactly 70mph in the 3rd lane of the m5 once when my belt said byebye

its stopped raining so started putting the front end back together
nice newly painted front panel fitted.




when i refitted all the engine main plugs on the chassis leg each was checked cleened and greased up to stop water getting in
all or the bolts are being put back in with copper grease so they should come out again when needed

nice white under arch paint before the liners are refitted






nice newish Nissan rad bled using the pop bottle method thats an easy method

and as a bonus my fans work too

why not!.......cause i didnt want to go through all the hastle of locating routeing wiring and fitting Saxo bits eeeew!

probably cost me £60 to drop the PAS pump incl belt and that future proofs the engine if i ever want to bodie it or SC/turbo you never know what father christmas might bring

I got my EPAS pump from a 106 and including a belt it has cost me £35
