what are the first signs of a turbo going bang? its just that ive got a strange noise coming from the engine. it sounds like a light metal on metal rubbing sound and gets louder when engine is revved. it only started happening after i straightened out the exhaust (where middle section connects to cat). not sure if its the turbo or if its the fan belt as shes starting to get a bit squeaky on start up. any ideas?

Could be the aux belt tensioner? They're fairly common to fail.

The turbo usually has a slight delay after revving it as it needs to be spooled up, so if it's immediate then it's not likely the turbo.

Yeah, I can hear the turbo more, but it just seems to be a different noise to what is sounded like before. But since posting this thread it seems to have settled down now. So I'm not to sure really.
