possible turbo problem? - willJspears - 22-11-2013 what are the first signs of a turbo going bang? its just that ive got a strange noise coming from the engine. it sounds like a light metal on metal rubbing sound and gets louder when engine is revved. it only started happening after i straightened out the exhaust (where middle section connects to cat). not sure if its the turbo or if its the fan belt as shes starting to get a bit squeaky on start up. any ideas? RE: possible turbo problem? - andywhy - 25-11-2013 Could be the aux belt tensioner? They're fairly common to fail. RE: possible turbo problem? - Tom - 26-11-2013 See if it squeaks with the cd player, blower, all your lights and the heated rear screen on. RE: possible turbo problem? - strictly_perv - 26-11-2013 The turbo usually has a slight delay after revving it as it needs to be spooled up, so if it's immediate then it's not likely the turbo. RE: possible turbo problem? - Piggy - 26-11-2013 with a decat and clearer exhaust i bet you can just hear the turbo more RE: possible turbo problem? - willJspears - 27-11-2013 Yeah, I can hear the turbo more, but it just seems to be a different noise to what is sounded like before. But since posting this thread it seems to have settled down now. So I'm not to sure really. |
